    Default LARVAE

That's right! Now that we've had duckies and kitties and puppies in threads, it's time to unleash the cute babies of the insect world.

I used to collect butterfly larvae and keep them until they became butterflies when I was a kid. The hardest ones to keep alive was those who fed on nettles. Then there was also those who got eaten up from the inside by wasp larvae.

I managed to find a video about the wasp larvae; note how the caterpillar is still alive after the parasites have exited the body

It's because they're small and fast and often have lots of little legs. People don't like mice for a similar reason, though mice have it better since they're mammals and people like mammals more than other forms of life for some strange reason.
Then there are those people who seem to express fear of butterflies...truly bizarre, that.

My understanding is that we have an inherent behavioural repulsion we have evolved so as to avoid the possibility to coming into contact with the poisonous ones.

Though I agree with that, I think there is also an inherent behavioral repulsion we have evolved so as to avoid the possibility of coming into contact with animals that could tear us limb from limb without much effort.
Yet people like bears. And lions.

    And cats are soft.
Most bugs are pretty fuzzy when you see them up close. Not pet-able due to their small size, however.

Not much to look at when you wipe em off your boot.

And as for mice, well, I really hate killin them. But it's a job someone has to do.
