Default Call of Duty : Prague Warfare

I've been assigned on the delegation to be visiting Prague for civil aviation purposes which will be visiting the city from 2nd to 4th or 5th of June.

The classical questions could follow as how the weather generally is over there att his time of the year, what apparel I should bring along.

Also, despite the fact that such visits abroad are generally packed with hectic and overwhelming business, in case we can find sime time off, I'd be grateful if some Praguated fellow could advise what and where to see/eat/shop etc. there. Expenses are a concern, mind you, though.

    Thanks in advance.

Prague isn't that expensive, that is probably why I remember so little of it. It's a beauty that I can tell you. Good food, well everywhere. Water is bad buy botled or give your toilet a name as you will be spending time together. Incredibly hot women, they all have a twin but that could have been the beer.

Hot Czech women are already legendary here as well.

Thanks for quick input. I now really wonder how weather is like there. It'll be bothersome to be packing up with winter wear again for a travel of 3 days.

You won't need winter cloths. It is my duty to say I failed miserably with these hotties. We were all out for it go easy with the beer.

Well being an employee of an Islamic-oriented conservatory government, I doubt I'd be able to have some beer without sneaking it.

I have job security, that's what government offices are primarily famous for in Turkey. It's just that when you step into a dangerous zone, you "may be forced out of the club".

Thanks about the forecast which I always had in mind yet I wanted to know from someone experiencing/experienced it in first hand.

Anyway, we'll have to trust meteorology.

We will be a delegation of 3 people from Directorate General of Civil Aviation and will be attending the civil aviation negotiations to be held between the two countries as the Turkish side.

Hi Lefteyenine, I can indeed confirm the weather will be hot hot hot. I lived in Prague for a couple of years and it follows a continental weather system of hot summers and cold winters, at worst you will need a light rain jacket!

Places to avoid eating in are any establishment on or directly adjacent to Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square - they are tourist traps of the highest order. If you get a chance eat at a place called "Radost" - it's probably the best veggie restaurant I've ever been to - otherwise post what you're into and I'll try and recommend some places.

The things to avoid are the UK stag parties and being propositioned every 5 meters to visit the "best strip club".

Oh that's great news. I always imagined Prague to be mildy cold no mattter what the season.

Well, trying some local taste having visited abroad for the first time in your life would be more rational however, just in case, I'd love to know some meat restaurant. Also points to visit and some cafe to have a seat would be great to hear as well.

Don't worry, it's too dangerous for me to go on "hunting". ^^

I don't know yet. We'll probably get Turkish Airlines to arrange it.

Well, how hot Prague feels will depend on how hot Turkey is.

OK - it's not a massive city but on business trips you usually can't be bothered to travel too far in the evening, but if you do, travel into the Vinohrady area, in and around Namesti Miru metro station.
It's an art deco/nouveau area and has plenty of restaurants and cafes, e.g. http://www.saharacafe.com/menu/cafe, and isn't at all touristy. To be honest, I didn't really like traditional Czech food - too much meat, dumplings and gravy and not nearly spicy enough for me, but try "U 7 andělů" (try google maps for address) if you're really keen.
Cafe wise, there are plenty on the river, the best views are from the cafes just down from the Castle with views across the whole city - I forget the name but you can't really miss it.
Probably the best way to see most of the sights is to start at the Muzeum stop in Wenceslas Square, and walk to Old Town Square, then across the Charles Bridge and up to the castle. That will be about 1 hour, and would be a good evening walk with dinner up near the castle.
As this is a Total War forum, in the 7 years war the Swedes took the north bank of the river and the Charles Bridge was fought over - you can see cannon/musket damage on the bridge towers.
The other battle site is in Zizkov, you'll need to get the metro or trams to Vitkov park - it's got a massive horse statue on top - this is where Jan Zizka's moble war wagons saw off a Catholic Army in the middle ages.

These times of the year, it hits ~30 Celcius where I live.

Ethelred Unread, can I take your recommendations to be rationally affordable ? I'd better save as much as I can from the trip so I could make some monetary profit.

I think the monetary profit will be thrown out the window when confronted with some hot Czech girls.
Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.

Yar, the places I've mentioned are cheap or mid range. The worst places are on or just off Old Town Square or Wenceslas Square as they are poor food and expensive service.

Aye aye, sire. Although it being almost cold in Ankara nowadays, that's not the standard.

Ethelred Unread thanks so much for your recommendations. Please keep me updated in case anything else comes to your mind.
