    Default My Plea

I am a long time lurker, first time poster to this forum. I have just started playing RTW and BI for the last four months because of the Mac port and as a big ancient history buff I'm really pleased. My plea is this: Can anyone tell me how to unlock all factions on a mac? I seem to be unable to edit the descr_stat file.

I would love to play as the Celts, Berbers or Scythians for example and I think it's a total shame that some are locked in the first place. I would be forever grateful if someone could hook me up with directions that a five year old could understand. Thanks.

The reason you can't edit is because the folders of RTW are in read-only, select the folder of RTW, right click>properties>uncheck "read-only" and apply...Works for PC,most probably they have that system in Mac

Welcome to the Org, Lycurgus. Please don't take the previous post as indicative of the mostly wonderful members here.

Macs most certainly can right click. To change the permissons on the descr_stat file, you need to right-click (or control-left click with a one button mouse) and choose Get Info from the context menu. At the bottom of the Get Info data lies the permissions detail of the file. If you are logged in as root, you should be able to change these permissions to enable you to edit the file as needed in TextEdit.

I'd be fascinated to hear how you are finding the port.

I am also playing on the Mac port, to get to the descr_strat file i went into disk utility and after backing up the dmgs that came with the game, i then converted them into read and write disks. I was then able to go into the descr_strat file and edit it successfully, sadly the game kept crashing to desktop so i just went back to the old disk image.

I believe i did try changing it off from read only in the permissions area and it didn't work for me, please tell me if it does for you.

now if you go to feral's facebook page they have downloadable scripts and mods that will do it all for you. I did it that way and it was very easy, even for me and i'm totally computer illiterate.
