    Default Roman barracks

    Hi

I am playing EB as Rome. During my conflict with Carthage, I conquered a number of their provinces in Sicily and Africa, including the Carthage city itself.

In most of those "expension provinces" (which include both smaller towns and large cities) I established Type 2 government -- i.e. a Romanised Province. I expected to be able to build some Roman barracks to recruite troops such as hestai, but for some reason I do not have an option to build these barracks. All I can build are those local support barracks (I forgot the officials name used by EB) which only build some of the basic local troops.

The year is 230BC and I have had the Polybian reform.

Am I doing something wrong? It is rather inconvenient to ship my troops for retraining in Rome after every battle.

Weeee!! My 1st time giving people advice (in EB) ^^

Playing as Rome, you only get to build your Roman troop in the starting cities for Camillian reform (including Segesta). Polybian reform allow you to recruit only in Italian region (from Rhegion, Taras, Bononia and Patavium). This mean you will have to relied on local support barrack in other region.
Only once you have reach Marian reform can you start building your Roman troop in other region.

It seems that the answer has been taken by yeos here. well, yes, you can only construct Roman Barracks in Italy (Polybian-Cammilan). you can do it anywhere in the Marian Reforms, since Roman citizenship has been extended.

Thanks a lot Yeos and GSS. I was contemplating destroying buildings one-by-one in a conquered city, thinking that one of them may be blocking me from building barracks. Good I didn't...
