Question Weirdest thing that happen in-game? (Campaign)

This may not sound understandable. I apologize. Here's my example: (it's true by the way) So I'm playing as the English right? I finally got a pattern to go when a new pope is elected, I assassinate him. My first weird moment is when I miss him 3 times when the success rate was 95% each time. Next I'm assigned to assassinate a witch. When I do her dress attaches to the ground behind her while she falls, like when my guy swings at her, the dress instantly attaches. (Glitch?) Then the Black Death comes. I see Kaffa is plagued along with Bulgar. But then next turn, the plague is in places not even historically correct. The Black Death in Oslo? In Baghdad? Dublin? I can go on. Beat that!

Ocassionally I have a fleet, 4-5 cogs or the like with an army and a general on it. I am sending them away for a naval invasion. Suddenly, an AI fleet attacks them (occasionally pirates), the AI has a heroic victory and puts all 4-5 ships to the bottom, general and army included. One fleet in my present campaign lost 2 generals and an army as it attempted to clear my blocaded port from within the port, chance of success 50%. That is my addition to the strange and frustrating!

My motto as well. Makes my campaigns as Milan rather tough, though....

Having maxed out Papal standing helps with the ceasfire requests. I just finished a crusade on the Milanese, wiping them off the map. The Pope was overjoyed :)

I love making the Pope happy in crusades. Especially against Milan. I once had them ask me to ceasefire during the crusade and asked for everything I took from them (towns and forts, etc.) plus like a couple thousand florins.

Heh how's this. As Portugal I dispatched Spain first, getting me ex-commed (doh!) Ok that's fine, now I have a crusade against my newly conquered Toulouse. Poland and HRE joined the crusade against me right away, which makes them auto-war against me. Well an HRE diplomat showed up at Toulouse requesting a ceasefire. I got it with trade-rights (couldn't get a city out of it, oh well), so I think now its only Poland, right? Not two turns later the HRE Crusading army shows up and attacks Toulouse. Weird, eh? You'd think that them ceasefiring me would make that crusading army no longer crusade, but they showed up and allowed them to drop down on the "reliable" chain.

On my last Turkish campaign (vhd/vhd) I had a general who went rebel, then changed back. He had the "mixed loyalties" trait, loyalty 4. He was separate from the stack outside rebel Acre, and went rebel himself. When I clicked on him he said "Sultan, what is your wish", and I was able to merge the stack with him. Needless to say, I didn't leave him in charge of anything.

@bilgediver: I think the once a crusade army is started it isn't considered a national army any more. It was the same in M1TW. You could start a crusade, then make peace with the target while the crusade was in progress. In the Turkish campaign above there was a crusade against Turkish Antioch. Six nations responded. Several of them sent diplomats to ask for a ceasefire. Turkey was able to charge as much as they could pay for the ceasefires. The Turkish diplomats would demand 100 GP. Then a ceasefire would be offered. The Milanese paid 7000, and 5000 for 3 turns for the ceasefire. To cash strapped Turkey this was a boon.

At the time Turkey was vassal to the Byzantines (long story) and was able to stop all of the crusades with a single Turkoman blocking the crossing from Constantinople to Nicea on the west side on Byzantine land. They took a long time to go away, and the Spanish one kept the Portuguese one blocked in for ages (they were at war with each other) after the others had abandoned the crusade, or gone rebel. The crusades sure made a devastating mess where they stood for decades at the crossing.

This may not be as strange as the above posts but it was to me at the time. I went after the Castle of Ryazan as russia as I found no fewer than 15 units of rebel HA's of various types defending it. Luckly I was able to get my general and his troops inside the gates before all the rebels arrived, and my general mostly met them at the gates and killed everything. I've just never seen that many rebel troops guarding a castle before..

The pope unifying Italy, Yugoslavia, Greece and Constantinople.

Talk about mandate of heaven. How can I take them on?

On the same game, I saw several Vassals:
    - England had Scotland
    - Denmark had HRE, France and Hungary

Finally, a message saying that the pope signed a peace treaty with Venice... which was destroyed a couple of generations ago.

Also I once had a full stack of fully upgraded Tercios, Musketmen and Gendarmes in a crusade.

They were en route to the holy land on board of a huge fleet when the family member decided to kick the bucket.

    All my army disappeared instantly.

What do you mean by this?

    I thought 1 turn = 0.5 years (6 months) was normal?

In "Rome total wars", yes, in "Medieval total wars 2" 1 turn= 2 years, though the seasons vary as if they were 6 months still.I find it a little annoying myself, but then I woould have like to se a medieval total wars, half the game is played out in the renaissance. I've got no idea why they wanted such a huge timespan in the game, but possibly the americas and timuirs have something to do with it, I still haven't played that far since I usually have everything under my rule by the time the Mongols arrive.

As for strange things, playing the Milanese I managed to keep good relations with the pope, but I was still excommunicated, still he liked me enough to let me issue crusades, the problem of course being that I wasn't allowed to enter them myself and perhaps worse the only dozen or so targets he'd warrant a crusade against were all my cities :P

I also got a priest in northen africa that quickly got a lack of faith trait, only to soon there after get both an inquisitor and the holy zeal trait, so supposedly he went around torturing people for his own amusement. ;)
