    Default CTD Romani problem :(

Hi all, i'm new to the forum, so the first thing i've done was to search around other posts about my problem or a similar one....
    I think i've not found an answer anyway...so let's post it ^_^

I'm plaing the EB v1.2 and i've put on the fixes (which resolved problems of ctd with Lusotani befor)...all has gone well untill in year 214 bc.

The problem: when I press the "end turn" button i get a CTD, i cannot see whom is the first action after my turn

What i've done before that turn: I think the only thing changed is that i took a Chartaginean settlement, i don't remember exactly thje very name...it starts with L ... but it's easy to find on the map because it's just south of syracusa across the sea on african cost and it's the only "new roman" territory there...

here is the link to my savegame http://ul.to/v8dnrd
and just to be more precise here is the one to the Autosave (the game have done it after I press "end turn" and just before CTD) http://ul.to/xp7ftr

I hope someone can resolve the problem 'cause i really enjoied the game till now ^_^
PS. sorry for errors in using english language if there are

Your English is fine, and welcome to the forum.

Your problem (or at least, very similar problems) is covered at some length in the frequent issues. My first guess would be that there is some rebellion taking place somewhere in the world, and the frequent issues lists a couple of ways you can possibly get around it. Take a look, and post again when you've tried some of the solutions .

i've read the post you mentined...under the "The game crashes as soon as I end turn / The game crashes during the AI turn." section

    i've tried :
--Try to reload the game and end turn once more. (tried so many times) the CTD is always behind the corner :P
--Try to run the game with the Barbarian Invasion or Alexander executable (i've tried with alexander one) the CTD still happen but this time when is the Baktria turn (i suppose it, 'cause it's just too fast the cycling of all factions ^_^)...
--Demolish all game field buildings in rebellious cities that you own. (i don't control any rebellious city, or at the least they aren't at the end of my turn)
--Reload a savegame from 2-16 turns before and play from there (i'll not try this...i have one save game for almost all years i've played but what is the point in turning around a problem that could happen again in future? moreover i was just in the right time to launch a full scale attack on chartago, i've waited for too much this moment that i cannot reload 2 or 4 years later O_o).

all other solutions given in that post i just don't understand or maybe i've not all the knowledge to follow them :(
Any guideline to try something more would be very appreciated ^_^

PS. thanks anyway for reading this and try to help anyway

When there is blue text in that post, it means commands that you enter in the RTW console. You get the console by hitting the key below Esc and to the left of 1 on your keyboard (for many this is tilde, ~, but on mine it is a pipe, |, instead. Yours may be different). Once you have the console, enter the relevant command into it such as toggle_fow - enter. Hope this helps. The taking control of another faction is a quite a bit more complex procedure.

About reloading an older savegame, if it stands between doing that and losing your campaign I'd say the former would be preferable. Your choice of course, but I encourage you to keep multiple saves in the future so that you have this option open when or if you get a similar problem.

I can see two more options for you:
    * Repeat the procedure for this turn
    * Start a new campaign, always keeping savegames for some turns back

Of course, you are free to give up EB entirely, as you say.

i'll try to repeat the steps i followed to resolve previous turn and from now on i'll save before end of each turn....
anyway is there any fix then can resolve those things once and for all? ^_^

resolved the turn by not enabling EB script...another turn begin, i enable the cript (with the advisor) press "end turn" and...CTD ...

    any idea?
is the script really needed? or can i play the game without using it more?

You say you installed the fixes during your game. This means there could be a reform marker spam causing this problem... However, if the game crashes immediately upon starting the script, I should be able to find out what's causing it. Could you please upload the savegame where this happens? The script is an integral part of EB. Without it, you are essentially playing vanilla RTW with other units and an AI going bankrupt.

In the meantime, I suggest you start a new campaign. Having the fixes installed for the entire game will reduce the chances of problems later on as well.

the CTD doesn't appear immediately after i turn on the EB script....after i activate it i can do everything normaly...the CTD occurs when i press end turn, the game do everything it needs to do, but when is the Eleutheroi turn --->CTD.

anyway yes, i've put on the fixes when the game was yet in 225 bc at the least, so maybe you're right saying that maybe it fixes something that is not retroactive so the correct "events" or "action" just cannot be loaded in a campaign yet started...so I'll try to start a new romani campaign all from beginning hoping it'll go all well XD

PS. in any way Save games links are those at the beginning of the post, i've not done much in the other 2 turns and i've nothiced that also those one hadn't caused a CTD when i forgot to activate the script...

thanks anyway for tring to help, EB was a really good idea, but too frustrating this continuous CTD

Sorry to hear that. It's very rare indeed to get crashes so early in a campaign, I gather that didn't happen in your previous campaign. I'm afraid there won't be much of an update to EB1, all the known stability fixes are already among the official fixes for 1.2.

You may want to check in every once in a while to try EB2 when it comes. I'm pretty certain we won't have the same stability problems in EB2 as in EB1. We'll certainly have new and more exciting stability problems then .

well 'cause EB is too nice, i've given it another try....now 249 BC all is well no more crash problems, anyway I think (imo) that the CTD could have happened because I played the game for several hours...always maybe....it could be that a little problem, with time passing, cumulates with other little problems and eventually there's a CTD.

Now i'm tring to save after each year (at the least) and playng the game for limited time, then i quit it and restart....for now it's going all well, but still my dominions are few, we'll see later what happens ^_^

is EB 2 a "Roman" version of Medieval 2 TW?
If so....i'll try it from a new CTD to the other lol

Save your campaign in different slots, so you can go back to alternative dates. Don't play longer than 2 hours at the same time, restart EB and continue.

EB2 is EB for MTW2 with a lot of more features...

Here again.... sorry to bother you all..

as previously said i restarted the roman campaign ...all well till 215 bc (just one year before the previous CTD which started this post)

again i'm at war with carthago ( a daja-vu?), but this time i'm fighting in Spain...sieging a city ( "Arsè" ) i've been attacked by a cartaginean army; I play the battle, I win it (yet played 5 times, tryng also not to enable the script) then happen that i've to chose between "ocupy" "expel" enslave"....no matter which option i take 'cause as soon as i click on the option ---> CTD

Is there something that can solve this bug?

Try to take the city a turn later/earlier, try to use the "auto_win" cheat to not fight the battle.
Are there FM's engaged in the battle/siege?

to skip the bug, during the battle (6th time lol) i've not pursued their rout units, so that time i didn't take the settlement. But in my turn I had to remove the siege 'cause a huge enemy army was arriving... so skipped the bug, but lost a settlement i cannon't take any more in some years to come (many armies arriving now).

    anyway for future....
I had my forces just sieging Arsè on the campaign map (there were needed some turns to take it), then carthago sent a rescue army. Fought the battle, which i heavily won, then poped up the "three choses window" (ocupy/expel/enslave)... no matter the chose i took 'cause as soon as i pressed the button ---> CTD.

I remember that both the besieged and the rescue armies had a FM (or maybe two), instead my army hadn't it ^_^

If my experience leads me not on a false track, this should have been it, as it is IMO not reproducible.

    Have fun with your campaign!
