    Default An EB game.

Hi everyone! Thought I would do a playthrough and we can decide which faction to be and decide together how the game will proceed. I will post screens and progress reports and the like. Let me know! By the way how do I take screen shots?

We can do a 'council' thing, where I play and others can give input and I will post screens and a storyline up on the forum. if people like that kind of thing?

It's been done a few times. The best way to do it would probably be to start yourself, get a story going, post your progess and people will get interested and join in.

For screenshots, google fraps and download that. Very useful. For your game, I think you should be Eperios, just because Eperios is a fun game to play.

After a long struggle which resulted in stalemate against the Romans, Pyrrhus was a man who was both blessed and cursed by the events that would now unfold. Some have argued that he should keep his obligations to the Tarentines who he agreed to protect from the Romans, but many a strong Epirote now views the Tarentines with contempt, expecting us to protect them whilst they still enjoy the benefits that Greek civilization has to offer! The Epirote campaign in Sicily had ended badly also, after our kings perceived 'tyranny' by the people of Syracuse. The king would have to speak with his advisers and see what the best course of action would be. Whether to launch a campaign against the hated Romans, and maybe even another campaign in Sicily, or perhaps the best course of action would be to destroy the Antigonid dynasty of Macedonia and unite the most hardy and powerful peoples of Greece under the Epirote crown, and eclipse even the achievements of Alexander the Great! Whatever the case, swift action is needed, indecision has led to the destruction of many kings and with it their kingdoms!

The king made haste to the sacred oracle of Zeus, in order to seek divine guidance and to obtain the blessings of the Gods, which are essential if an army is to claim victory in glorious batlle! After the mysterious rituals that took place we heard most encouraging sign from the oracle, that a great empire would rise in the west! Surely this is evidence of divine blessing over the efforts of the Epirote kingdom!

The best thing to do is create an account on a file-hosting website (I use photobucket.com), upload the photos there, and then embed the files hosted there into your post.

And for the record, I recommend we ignore Greece and unify Magna Graecia! (Ally with the KH, take & sack Arpi & Capua, give Arpi & Capua to the KH, & conquer Bruttium & Sicily) The Romans and Phoenicians will give us the foreign enemy we need for the lower classes to accept our rule, in Greece there is only constant infighting and whining of "freedoms."

Hurrah! Thanks alot Mister Fred! Now we can get this thing on the road! Your advice is well taken friend, it would be a great propaganda victory indeed if we were to show ourselves as great pioneers, as was great Alexander, by bringing Greek civilization to the barbarian peoples of the west, and all decent Greeks despise the wretched greed of the foul Phoenician! And our brothers chafe under Roman tyranny!

Pyrrhus was hardly surprised to hear that all but one of the council were so totalled on wine that they had missed the meeting of the council! Pyrrhus decided that the best course of action would be to reclaim the lands lost in the west, after an inspirational speech by one of his fellow Greeks. However, because of the unique situation in Macedonia he thought that it would be reasonable to seize Macedonia in a swift attck, with Pella secured he would strike a powerful blow against his Antigonid rivals and then shift his attention to Greater Greece!

And so, with the blessing of the Gods and his faithful troops at his back, Pyrrhus unleashed his vaunted forces upon the walls of Pella!

The city lay before them, ripe for the taking!

Elephants smashed the pathetic gates of Pella and then Pyrrhus ordered his fearsome Celtic troops to storm the city!

In the fierce fighting that followed, the Macedonian, Alkyoneus was slain in battle, a noble death as his soul was sent to Hades!

After his death, all that remained to do was to march on the city centre and claim victory for the Epirus, and another glorious victory for Pyrrhus!

With this victory, the Epirote people can seek to avenge their failures against both the Romans, and then the wretched Carthaginians!

Spring moved to summer, an excellent time to transfer armies across the sea over the cool still waters of the Adriatic. The Greeks knew Italy as a rich land, ideal for farming, but filled with fiece and independent minded warriors! The Epirote fleet was ready to land troops to relieve the garrison at Taras. Once this was done, the army was to head for Rhegion and capture the city from the Romans that occupied it. Pyrrhus decided that he would remain in Pella for now, he would send his heir to prove his worth and then arrive later. After deciding to send his armies west, the king had a very odd dream indeed. He found himself storming the narrow streets of Argos, in the midst of the battle, an old hag atop a roof threw a tile at him, stunning him in the midst of battle, this was where the dream ended, however any good Greek knows that the Gods walk in the dreams of mortals, and the king would heed this warning!

A Roman army, led by Lucius Scipio had been besieging the city of Taras for a short time, confident that they would be victorious over the small Epirote garrison and the decadent citizens of Taras. They had nothing but contempt for the vile Greeks, that most effeminate and arrogant of peoples! The Romans believed that the city had no chance of reinforcement, and even if the Epirotes arrived with more troops, the martial glory of Rome would defeat them! Because whilst the foolish Epirotes believe that the empire that will rise in the west would be theirs, they do not see that the Gods have chosen the people of Rome not just to rule over Italia, but that of the entire world!

    Welcome Cleo!

I would reccomend you go for Sicily once you have the southern part of Italy. Knock the Carthaginians out early so they can't flank you, then you will have a good financial and military base from which to push north against the Romans.

I'm playing an Epirote campaign right now as well and it's so much fun that I want to write an AAR. Unfortunately I'm too far in at this point. I might start up another campaign for a different faction at some point and go with an AAR for them!

Hi Robin! Yeah it's good fun so def a good idea, look forward to seeing it! I will try and post more of the story up tonight but have had loads of stuff to do over the past couple of days. By the way am VERY much looking forward to EB II and Shogun Total War 2! Never played ETW, just think the TW style is more suited to classical or medieval style campaigns, in my opinion.
