It's a bit of good news, at least:

So that's one thing right; just a thousand more to go.....

A trip of 1000 miles begins with one step. This is a good step.
This is good. Very good. If anything, I'll rip the music from the game and keep just that.
Hehehe, maybe I shouldn't be so negative about this one.

Thats great news!I really enjoyed his atmospheric music for the original title.
He is an excellent composer. I have liked all of his music. CA is doing a smart thing by keeping him on.
That's great! They are really going back to the basics with this one!

AMAZING!
This made my day. I'm looking forward more to the music now than the actual game.

Great news. Listen again to
this and think if you've ever had anything as good in any other TW title.
It's getting better and better, I can't wait to put my hands on this game - but please, CA, take your time and make it proper.

This is certainly a good sign.....he's the best!
I made a montage of STW I music to play on my truck CD player, and I've had numerous comments by folks who have heard it. Most don't even know it came from a game until I tell them.....

Nice! His memorable music helped shape past TW games. Who could remember them without remembering their epic music?

He's always done great work. I'm looking forward to it! ^_^
Did Jeff Van Dyke just do STW and MTW? Or did he do anything beyond that? I just can remember how immersive the music in STW was! Hopefully they have similar voice acting/quotes like in the original STW as well. Whipped dog, running for his worthless life, even the peasants grow fat, poignant poems, etc. All great stuff!

He did the music all the way through Medieval 2.

Indeed. Would be cool if CA managed to get the same voice actors again. The narrator in the teaser trailer sounds like it might the same guy as in the original Shogun, but I can't tell for sure.

Van Dyke did all the Total war music from Shogun up to and including Medieval II. He was originally listed as the musical director for Empire, but for what ever reason he was not involved. It was quite apparent too---the music for Empire lacked variety and was simply not memorable when compared to all the previous titles. Napoleon's new music (what there is of it) was much better.

He did all the non-pukefest games. Meaning everything but ETW and NTW.
THIS. IS. SOOOOO. AWESOME.

I loved the way all would be quiet in MTW's map view when you notice the lute starting.
Double A 02:19 06-16-2010
Yeah he did it in Rome too, super awesome guy.
Tsar Alexsandr 03:34 06-16-2010
I wonder when we'll hear the first songs from the game. :D

Totally agree!!!
Yay! Hopefully they make Shogun 2 as immersive as the first one.
Tsar Alexsandr 04:19 06-24-2010
Well the music will certainly be good. The music helps me keep my interest. :D It really adds to the atmosphere. He's a brilliant composer.
