Oh, we lock up loads of people. Just doesn't really do a lot as oddly mixing up loads of petty criminals with each other is a great way to disseminate certain skills and compare techniques.
Shorter, nastier conditions would act as a greater deterrent for re-offenders, and for most mundane crimes unpleasant but required community orders are preferable.

Move to France instead!!
Prison inmate Nicolas Cocaign killed his cellmate, cracked his ribs, ripped open his chest with his bare hands, then ate his heart raw.
Or so he hoped, he mistakenly started eating his left lung first.
This after last week the man who allegedly murdered a lesbian couple, hung himself in his cell. No surprise what with the highest prison suicide rate in Europe. Dreadful.

I know we've had some prison riots over bad food here in the USA, but this takes the issue to a whole new level....Move to France instead!!

My fingers are simply aaaching to type any of the thousand pesky replies running through my mind, but I for one am going to follow the cue of my Walloon brethren, and shall smile and hug my Flemish friends!
It's been one provocation too many. This time, the stern and disciplined Flemish overlords mean business,the flow of subsidies might stop for realactual confederacy is looming.
So I'll bow before the magnificence of Belgium, will show nothing but a smiling face as I agree to the reasonability of each and any proposal of compromise, and shall praise the unity and friendhip of Belgium's peoples! L'union fait la force!
