I have mixed feelings about this, but whatever; it'll be a good night.
More than a couple more hours 'till midnight, then it's ON!

Happy Canada Day! Wish I was there, but don't know if I'll get there anytime this year again.

Some piously affirm: "The truth is such and such. I know! I see!"
And hold that everything depends upon having the “right” religion.

I salute our brothers to the north, who are saddled with a national anthem even more tuneless and amusical than ours.
I always think of Brendan Behan on a day like this “I saw a notice which said, 'Drink Canada Dry' and I've just started.”
They slew him with poison afaid to meet him with the steel

FIREWORKS tonight, heading back out. Was chilling at the beach all day, and myyyyyyy gawd, we have some fiiiiine chicks. DAMN!
But hey, Lemur, that "anthem" you posted has a really weird beat, nothing like what I grew up listening to. Anyways, this video almost brought me to tears:
This is what I am so proud of. See those veterans? Those strong, mighty, and wise elders fought for me in more ways than you can imagine.
Bonne fête du Canada / Happy Canada Day!
While we're on the subject of weird music, how about some Cajun Country in celebration of Québec's national holiday last week:

Oh, les Quebecois celebre le fete du Canada maintenant? Ca c'est bizarre, et un peut drole. Mais le situation est le meme avec mois, un membre d'un Premier Nation.
Eh. Canada n'est pas un nation, c'est un etat. Et le multiculturalism and tous les nations sont le definition du Canada. C'est l'etat de la futur!
I thought that whole idea died when Troudeau's efforts to crush nationalism through a multicultural, pan-Canadian identity, ended up developing into a form of national identity, and therefore a sort of nationalism, itself.
Multiculturalism does seem to have one the day anyway, the Quebecers won't be achieving 49.4% in favour for independence again anytime soon. The Anglophones, Francophones, and Aboriginals are heading on track to living together happily. The real danger is those damned foreigners, how long before the Americans have completed their takeover of Alberta?
At the end of the day politics is just trash compared to the Gospel.
Happy Ca....
wait, when did it stop being "Dominion Day"?
Be well. Do good. Keep in touch.
In even more fairness, I don't know a thing about contemporary Scotland. Which is unfortunate, considering the Metis portion of my blood boasts largely of Cree and Scottish heritage (notice the infinity flag in my sig; looks familiar, Scotboy?).
