EB 1.1 .exe downloads poorly, corrupts folder

Hey everyone, I'm having a really odd error here.

I recently uninstalled Europa Barbarorum to do a clean reinstall of the entire thing, so I uninstalled EB 1.2 first, then EB 1.1, then the recruitment viewer and documentation. I went to the main website and downloaded EB 1.1, but after the download was complete, something went wrong. When I try to select the folder, delete the .exe from the folder, or open the 1.1 .exe, Windows Explorer freezes and hangs, needing a reset. I've already tried downloading the 1.1 .exe on two different computers I've played EB on and I keep getting this problem.

It's odd, because the 1.2 .exe opens and asks to be installed just fine. However, something's up with the 1.1 .exe downloading. Any ideas what could be causing this?

If you are using Vista/Win7 is the OS trying to load the installer into the memory, wait for some minutes. Also check your antivirus protection or similar programs you might have installed. Another option is a corrupted download, but the chance to get this on two PC's is very small. To get a 100% clear file use torrent.

I just tried downloading the .exe from the main website at a friend's computer, with the same results. Something's really odd with that .exe.
Trying the torrent now, but there is no seed or peer on. :(
Is there some way we can have an EB 1.1+1.2 .exe made available at some point in the future?

Do you use the ftp link to our website? This source is 100% correct and with no problems for other people. Are you sure that nothing is running in the background which could be stopping the installer from loading?
About torrent: Check your settings, there are now >50 seeds for both files, maybe your port is blocked by a firewall.
In near future there will be a all-in-one patch, but don't ask my for a exact date.

Could you also check the size of your downloaded file? It should be: 186MB for 1.1 and 108 for 1.2

I did use the FTP link, right now there are 0 seeds and 2 peers online. Firewalls allow me to download, no problem. I guess those 50 seeds are non-existent on my end. The downloaded file size for 1.1 is 786 MB, not 186. EB 1.2 is 108 MB in size and opens properly. I've even tried opening the .exe downloaded from the site on another computer altogether just to see if the installer works, but nothing.

I tried opening the Windows Task Manager to see what was going on when I downloaded and tried to install EB 1.1 on the other computer. EB 1.1 exe and EB 1.1 tmp open as processes, but nothing else happens. No window pops up telling me I'm in the setup, no agreement to install, no nothing.

I guess I'll re-download the torrent, if you're telling me there are seeds online.

There are many seeds online, including myself, check your settings.
How long did you wait for the installer to start?

Are there similar problems with other downloaded installers? As the exe works for others, I'm quite sure the problem is somewhere on your side.

Still having troubles with the .exe and torrent, so I guess I'll just wait until a combined patch is made available at some point. :(

You did not answer the important question on how long you waited for the installer to show up.....if you are using Vista/win7 turn off the UAC during the installation progress.
As the new combined exe would be as big as 1.1 you probably will get the same problems in the future.

I waited 8 minutes, and it was still hanging. Using Windows XP, actually.

I just don't know why the EB 1.1 exe is freezing up like this but 1.2 opens without a hitch.

And you are sure, you don't have any protection software on your PC installed?
If not, I would say you should download it on a different computer using a different Internet connection, install it there and afterwards move the created folder to your own PC. If you do this, remember to deselect Trivial Script and the other boni that come with the installer so you get a clean folder. Afterwards you will have to edit the created shortcut:

Modify the shortcut target. Move the end quote from the end of the line to directly after RomeTW.exe and it should work (goes for both the new shortcuts in 1.2). For instance, instead of "C:\My games\RomeEB\RomeTW.exe -mod:eb -show_err -ne" it should be "C:\My games\RomeEB\RomeTW.exe" -mod:eb -show_err -ne.

Does this mean I have to forego the Recruitment Viewer, 1.2 fixes, EB for BI, and the like?

Actually, what does the Trivial Script do? Is it skippable?

Yes, everything less than EB is optional. The Trivial Script gives you the option to edit settings of RTW in an easy way, but the paths are only working on the same PC, install it without the optional featuers.
