can anyone please tell me why in custom battles, when I choose the Romans there are absolutely no roman units available, just mercenaries (i supposed its the same thing for other factions)? Thank you for your help ;)

Quick answer:
There are two configurations with different unit-recruitment options. Single player and multiplayer. For custom-battles, play in the later.
