Patch Issue

Since nobody else has replied, i'll have a stab at it.

It could be that you have software on your machine that blocks registry entries, if this is likely try disabling such programs and re-install Rome. Also i recommend disabling your internet temporarily, and turning off any Anti-virus, Anti-spyware, malware, as these programs might be blocking certain files or registry entries.


Failing that you can try using this registry file from my Rome installation, if you use it, backup your Registry first, and make sure the install Directory for Rome is the same as in the Registry file : C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War

One thing i should add, and this would be my fault for not reading my errors ; The patch stops running and says that the patch is not compatible with the gold edition RTW.

Is the lack of cd key being asked for a issue ?

Well what version of RTW do you have installed? If you've installed the gold version its possible (probable most likely) that you're already patched to 1.5. Run the game and check your options screen to see what the version is.

Alright, I will check at home. The issue is when i download the patch is it says i can't load it because i have gold edition. Not that i already have 1.6.

If its incompatible with your current version it usually means the patch is already installed. If you're checking BI instead of RTW then the options menu will say 1.6. Most versions of the gold edition come prepatched to 1.5/1.6.

Ok,

the whole reason i've been asking is because i installed the LOTR mod and it's not working. The reason is because it's not patched to 1.6. Can't patch it to 1.6 if it's the gold edition.

OK, you are quite obviously not listening, the only reason you get that message is because you are already patched to 1.5/1.6. Do a clean install and start BI and take a screenshot of your options page and post it here.

The other issue, is that LoTR is not a BI mod it is an alexander based mod, so having BI at 1.6 doesn't matter, unless you have alexander you won't be able to play it anyways.
