Default The Trouble in Waiting [Concluded]

The pain had faded, replaced by a numb sensation over my whole body. I was flat on my back. Some strangers were pushing the cart I was on at a rapid pace. There was some shouting, some screams. My eyelids felt heavy, like I was ready for a nap. I felt the cart pull to a stop. There room I was in was so bright. The tiles of the ceiling were pearly white. My eyelids finally became too much of a burden to keep open.

Then, I felt a new, gentle warmth encompass my body. Like the world's softest blanket, caressing me, rocking me with a gentle sway. The darkness was lifted, replaced by a pale blue light. The pressure of the world lifted, and I felt like I was floating. And with a rush, I fell, down, down. And, with a moment's notice, I was sitting. Everything had changed. I was sitting on a pristine marble bench, though I still felt so airy. I looked up, and the ceiling, looking tall enough to encompass a five story building, was made of the same pristine marble. Everything was... the wall just to my left, the wall which looked several hundred feet behind me. When I peered to the right, I couldn't see a wall, just an endless expanse of the marble floor and a few dozen people sitting on benches identical to the one I was on. I caught sight of my hand in my peripheral vision and immediately noticed something was off. It looked as though it did when I was much younger, in my twenties. I felt my face- it was similarly smooth. Working up to the top of my head, I ran my hand through hair I hadn't had in decades.

    “John?”

A young woman's voice called out. Instinctively, I felt like she was calling for me, even with such a common name. I turned back to what was in front of me. A polished, wooden desk had appeared in front of me. A young, oriental lady, wearing a pale, pink suit. She seemed fairly normal, except that her eye color glowed a harsh, vibrant violet.

“Er, yes. That's me.” She smiled.

“I know. Welcome.” An old, leather bound book materialized before her on the desk. It flipped itself open to what looked about halfway through. “Alright, John, it looks like, based on how you lived, like you're getting off pretty easy!” Her excessively cheery demeanor was a bit off putting, but then my brain wracked forward like it had been stopped dead while in a sprint. It dawned on my just where I was. “According to our records, it looks like you're only here for two years, four months, two weeks, six days, fifteen hours, twelve minutes, and thirty five seconds.

“Um... so what do I do now?”

“Oh, no worries, you'll be transported to your residence facility just abou-” POP. Instantly, I was in new room, much smaller than the previous. It was made of the same, shining marble, but looked to be only about a hundred feet in each direction. There were maybe twenty or so people loitering around, staying near the walls, oddly distant from each other. Rectangular frames indicated there were hallways leading elsewhere.

“Welcome, John!” Still recovering just a bit from the disorienting transportation, I located the voice from behind me. At an identical desk sat a young blonde woman with shoulder length hair, wearing the same pink suit as the previous lady. “This is your residence facility. My name is Jannette. Ordinarily, I would wish you a pleasant stay and be off by now. Unfortunately, you arrived here just at a poor time.”

    “What's wrong?” I asked.

“Well,” she started, with the same incredibly cheery attitude as the previous lady. “It seems that someone in here is up to very unfortunate shenanigans. I was ordered by the Boss to stay on hand to help keep order. Just a bit ago, we discovered one of the residents was missing. Of course, its impossible to leave, so this means that someone made them not exist anymore.” My jaw dropped, partially at the circumstance I'd been thrown into, and partially at the chirpy manner in which I was informed. “We brought you in, John, because we know that you can't have done it. You see, the standard operating procedure is to let the residents figure this out, since, after all, they're quarantined in here anyways. You're to be the organizer of the residents, to help ensure nothing gets out of hand. Every day, you'll help the residents organize themselves, and you'll turn over whoever's been found to have been guilty.” That smile on her face was starting to weird me out even more. How could she be so cheery about this? “Well, John, I'd advise you to help them get started as soon as possible! We haven't got all the time in the world, now do we...?"

Welcome to my newest small mafia game!
This will be a purely vanilla setup- the town will have to work with in thread behavior to catch the two mafioso. The townspeople are the residents of the facility, and the two mafioso will be agents aimed at their demise, hidden in their midst. There will be no detectives, or doctors, or anything like that. That means thread activity will be important- please participate if you sign up!

I'm looking for up to the maximum of 17 players.

    Rules:

No quoting PM's, no quoting chatlogs, no screenshots, no alternate accounts, no translating pm's none of that.

I do not allow Vote: No Lynch as an option. Period. You may abstain, however.

If you wish to take back a vote, you CANNOT do it by editing a previous post. I will not count it. Period. You must unvote:playerX in order to recant the previous vote. In order to vote for someone, you must do so in the usual Vote: khaan style. However, thanks to my super moderator powers, I can tell what an original vote is, so feel free to edit a post after the fact if you just missed something and don't want to double post. Just be sensible about it. Votes must be bolded, for reference.

Suicides will only be allowed in the event of a person being very much unable to participate in the game. I do not allow suicides for any other reason.

No links to anything outside of this thread. Period. I don't care if it pertains to something completely irrelevant.

It would be very helpful for the sake of my sanity if player's kept a tally running.

Voting periods will be 24 hours, though I may occasionally extend it to 36 if necessary.

Any ties in voting will await someone to break it. First vote to either person who is tied will result in lynch, regardless of any posts after it.

WoK(Wrath of Khaan) will occur if a person does not vote 3 rounds in a row, or if they do not vote in 4 rounds in total. Please, please don't make me WoK you.

It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then, the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.
