Drove today...........

Sometimes cars of the young drivers tend to fall in love with trees or try to kiss and have a sexual intercourse with other cars. For any reason, this is never a desired consequence of driving a car.

Really? I did it the other way around and passed the manual with only one minor. Automatics are very easy to drive, so you learn quickly. Once you're used to the roads and your judgement is honed, learning how to use a gear stick isn't a big deal.

Everyone in PA, don't go out on the roads anymore. Its not safe.

+1. I didn't have to take a driving test, I was one of two people out of a driver's ed class of 50 to get a waiver for that. My new car is a stick, and I absolutely love it. Wife can't drive stickshifts either. :D

Maybe it's a woman thing, my sister learned on an automatic and still can't drive stick after all these years. Stick shifts rule, especially on mountain roads. If the wife can't drive stick, you don't have to worry about her taking your car.

I drove through Pittsburgh and back this weekend, I didn't see 40 car pileups or huge traffic jams, so I assume the driving experiment is going well.

Also, another warning for you young one:
When there is even the slightest chance of ice on the road, slow down when taking those turns!
Let me tell you a true story.
Back when I was a wee boy, only 15 and a half with my drivers permit, I loved driving. I went out as often as I could. But here in Atlanta its almost always dry so I never had the experience of driving in bad weather (not including rain). Well, one cold December morning, I went out driving with my dad. It was about 11:30am.
I was feeling very confident, and didnt think much of the ice warnings. After all, this was Atlanta!
Well, I took a turn way too fast and just my luck, there was a patch of black ice right there.
I skidded and almost collided head on with an SUV in another lane.
Thank G-d I was able to steer out of the way, but it was very, very close. Both me, my dad, and the SUV driver were both pale, we were so scared.
That experience traumatized me. I didnt go behind the wheel for a whole year. I finally did get my license a year and a half later, but it took a lot of courage for me to go back.
So just reminding you, you never are as good of a driver as you think you are.
