    Smile RTW/EB memory leak

So i have gathered from this forum and the knowlegable fans within it that RTW (and subsequently, EB) has a memory leak problem. I have seen it mentioned in passing before, but i wanted to specifically ask: is EB pretty much guaranteed to crash if it has been running for a long time? And if so, is that due to the memory leak? That's been the case with me (most times right after a big battle concludes), and i've solved most other bugs thanks to the many helpful souls who cruise this forum. So once again, i implore ye helpful fellows to enlighten this foolish lad in his time of need.

Upgrading to BI or better ALEX helps a lot, waiting after battles until the music ends too. I would not play EB longer than 4 hours and keep different saves, best in ten year-interval and furthermore every winter turn for the last ten years.

I do wait for the music to end as is, and i save regularly, probably at least every winter or the turn before i think there is going to be a major battle. And i dont believe i will be upgrading to BI or Alex any time soon, but i will take that into consideration. However, i will try to limit the playing to less than four hours. The game gets engrossing, as you know Thanks again for your advice, sir

If you posses BI already, you can safely switch to this version (as long as using Ferromancers installer), it is save-game compatible. Reducing the playtime is something I had to learn too...;)

    How is your campaign going?

It goes well, im a little over fifty years into a M/M Romani game (im a wimp, i know, i just really want to beat a campaign of EB for once before i move on to H/M), and i've taken all of Italy, Gaul, and part of Iberia. The game does this odd thing where if i watch the entire RTW vanilla intro video, it crashes at the very end. If i skip the video however, everything is fine. The only other CTD's i've had were once when i attempted to let several newly conquered cities in Gaul rebel, which they did, but i guess all at once caused it to crash. So i kept those. Then just yesterday the game crashed right in the middle of a battle. It was a big battle and i'd been playing for a while, though. Apart from that, i haven't had nearly as many inexplicable crashes as before, thanks largely to you, sir.

You can avoid those videos by either adding -nm to your shortcut target line or by editing it with the Trivial Script settings dialog found in your RTW folder.

    Thanks for the balloon!!

To be honest i'm not sure how to do that, but skipping the video works fine. As long as it doesn't cause other internal problems i'm alright. And you are very welcome for the balloon.
