Advanced installer functions

Hello,

I already read this great tutorial on how to create a basic installer:
How to make a Professional Quality Installer

But now i'm trying to create an installer which performs more functions than just copying files into certain folders.
For example:
- creating a shortcut of an .exe (requires detecting the exe on the computer of the end user)
- modifying specific portions of the preference file
- giving the choice between 2 version of a file (like export_descr_unit)

So if anyone could point me toward a tutorial (which may not be available on TWcenter as i searched and didnt find) which explains such advanced things, i'd be grateful.

Unfortunately, this is not really freeware but shareware, and can only serve to test creating an installer that cannot be used by other people. And the liecense is a hefty 200$.
