Validate Install blank folder Vista

I have a CTD when I try to launch a new campaign (I have just installed EB 1.1 and 1.2, the historical battles work). So I try to use the validate install as said on this forum but I can't manage to have something else than a blank notepad. (I try to unzip the folder named but it didn't change anything)

So I hope you will be able to help me, I apologize for my mistake in english (I'm french) and I want to congratulate you for your work on EB.

Are all fixes for 1.2 installed? You can get them from my signature if you haven't already installed them.
Please try this (ftp://europabarbarorum.org/Validation/validation.zip) changed validation.

If you are using Vista/Win7 be sure to install EB outside Program Files!

So I have reinstall the game following the installation guide. I have install the 3 fixes (which doesn't seems to be linked to my problem). I use Vista (using the administrator rights).

So the foirst problem is the CTD when I click on the arrow when I try to launch a campaign but I have another problem (which can be resolve easier I think): I block here with the installation validation:

"_ The validation turns up with a blank Notepad document on Vista? Try to get this altered validation which stores the results directly on the C: disk, where it should be allowed by Vista. You need to unpack it in the RTW folder where you installed EB."

I don't know if I do what is asked right but the result is still a completely white notepad.

What shall I do? Since I have read the historic presentation of the factions I wanted to play to this game but I can't launch a campaign and use the InstallationValidation so I'm totally blocked.

Try it with this:
Right click on RomeTW.exe and enable the compatibility mode for XP and set 'run as administrator'.
Run vanilla RTW and start a new campaign. Does it crash too?

RTW vanilla campaign didn't crash. Nevertheless I tried with the compatibility mode for XP and "run as administrator" and there was no problem still.

I tried the same (compatibility mode for XP and "run as administrator") with Eb and I crashed the same way than before.

If you have another idea I ready to try it. (bots sound) Sir, yes sir!

1. Try to run the validation with administrator-rights (right click and select "Run as...")

2. If you are starting EB with a shortcut add -nm to the end of the target line, if you are using the Trivial Script, open EB configuration and disable videos. Maybe it crashes because of the intro video.

3. Disable the UAC in the system settings, install EB 1.1 to a complete clear folder, install 1.2 also there and apply the fixes. Afterwards copy this folder (which should now be in theory a 100% clean and working version) over your already existing installation. Be careful that the files overwrite its predecessors in your existing build. Afterwards create a new shortcut to EB and edit the target line by adding: -mod:EB -ne -nm

Hope we'll get that working,

The second solution (disabling videos) is effective. I can play but the first word I will say is what a difficult game! THe city lost plenty of money (around -4000 for somes). I will have to learn how to play again!

Puhhh, glad it is working now!
Yes EB is a hard thing for some factions, maybe you want to try some of the 'easier' factions first to get a first insight like the Romans, Carthage or Ptolemaio.
