    Default Roman Brutality [Concluded]

Host's comment: I'm thinking of getting back into hosting games, and I have an idea for a small and/or a large game set in an instance of the Rome: Total War universe. Basically, this little game will serve as warmup for me as a host, and a short introduction to the current situation in the Roman Empire, which is going to be the centre that the later game revolves around.

Gnaeus Julius sighed with relief as he got within eyesight of his home, a small but sturdy mansion with associated fields and woods where his family had the economic foundation that allowed them to contend in politics. It was almost a day's journey on horseback from the gates of Rome itself, and it was the only place where Gnaeus could truly relax, away from the reckless politicians and ambitious senators who shyed no means to win influence and personal glory. He snorted in defiance, realizing that he was one of the few men who were left of an older and more honourable breed, true to the original spirit and ideal of the most magnificent city in the world, Rome.

He knew that many of these political enemies were waiting for an opportunity to have him removed, and his reluctance to take the war to the Gaul tribes that bordered the northern areas that were under the jurisdiction of himself and family, and was always relieved when he came home to find his mansion untouched. He dismounted some fifty yards from the gate in the outer wall surrounding his home and smiled as he could discern the gates opening to recieve him in the last rays of the sun.

Was this his oldest son coming to greet him?
