Apart from making the stacks "Huge" from the Game Settings menu, nothing else. Well, you could also fight with at least two armies each time. To avoid the annoying "Reinforcements delayed?" message you must set a value "Max units on battle map" i believe it was, to 0. Just google it, there are instructions how to do it.

Yep and you have to take into account that this game although amazing, is seven years old, they had to limit the amount of stuff on the screen or no computer would be able to run it. Plus there's the balance issue. A unit has always been between 50 and 150 soldiers, larger than that is usually a regiment or something. I get the feeling that with too large armies evereything would just become a mess, with little or no control.

I think they are tackling a total war shogun 2 at the moment, I wonder how large the armies are in that game? I mean they are bound to take another shot at Rome sometime after that. I do feel limited by the army stack sizes, but question is how large armies are fun to play more than for the occasional joy of seeing a hoard mill over the screen.

You can try looking around this very site, or use Google you know... Anyway IMO the best mod for RTW is Europa Barbarorum.

I remember first noticing Rome TW after watching the tv series 'Time Commanders', brings back a lot of memories.

You can mod the file and make the unit size larger...and then set things to max...

I dont know the hard coded limit though, so if you really want max size, you can try increasing one by one until you crash. Take a look through the modding section, it should be help. The file is export_descr_unit.txt, the one you would mod.

if you're willing to allow the AI to control a general led reinforcement army...*shudder* Just make sure they're disposable units you don't mind watching act like morons...or is there a cap on how many general led stacks can enter the field? during the seige of rome i remember there was about 4 or 5 stacks including my own on the same map fighting. it was mental. lol
