    Default Frontroom

The frontroom. What was once the Kingdom of Peace and Love is now pretty much dead, the only active threads are spam garbage from a few members.

On page 1, I count 17 threads that, by all rights, shouldn't exist.

Some of these threads are simple 1 liners as opening posts. We went through that phase. It died after a few days, with warnings sent out.

Why are these threads still around. Some are getting locked eventually, but its not helping. Sure it creates some posts, but nothing good, nothing fun.

The problem isnt with the community at large, its with a group of members, and a slightly wider group that isnt helping with their attitudes.

Should there be a tighter enforcement on content in the frontroom? (stop the garbage) (@Frontroom mods: this isn't directed at you)

I believe the problem lies with the lack of 'good quality' threads in the frontroom. Certain members get bored and with no other 'interesting' threads to contribute in ...
Though I doubt waving the proverbial big stick around will stop the decline of the frontroom.

What do you think the Frontroom is for anyhow? Always was filled with stupid, goofy spam stuff as long as I can remember. There's nothing here at .Org for people to do, so they etheir leaving to TWC, leaving TW all together or posting crap in FB just so they can stay reavent.

I with Pever on this one. Even a year ago, it was filled with good, intellectual topics that went on for pages. Now, I dont know whats it is...
Makes me wonder why I have it tabbed in the first place.
Never, in my 3+ years of being here, has the Frontroom stooped so low. I wonder if the Backroom is any better.

I remember when I was first here in Early 2006 with my 1st account, and there was a lot of good threads, but seems like Backroom is getting worse imo also.

I find it funny that Pever decides to rip on me for making just one thread without a clear subject line, yet has never complained about the 100 million+ spam threads that Strike for the South posts almost daily. Hypocrisy?

And he likes to say similar things about my threads (Guess I'm just a wash up Elitist MP player like he called me once on Steam last year minus the was up part) and STFS gets off?

The more popular you are on a stupid video game forum my friend, Vuk, the better off you be. Sadly I guess we both don't fit that mold.

I know I'll get slam for this and no trouble was intended from from me Moderators but at this point I don't care anymore. Trying of getting walked over in Real life and even in a video game forum.

I don't open Strike's threads either if that makes you two feel better.

I've never been a big Frontroom guy but lately I haven't even felt the need to open any threads there because they mostly look pointless.

Perhaps a large part of the contributors has vanished, creating a lack of contributions?

That was Strike, and I got a warning for doing the same thing.

Hmm ... I figured I was just getting old and crotchety, and hence the Front Room, where I used to enjoy reading and posting occasionally, had become a place for younger, cooler folks with whom I could no longer relate because of my fogie-ness. Nowadays I read there only if there is nothing else interesting to read on the rest of the board, and rarely post. I used to come to the Org and read/post for 15-20 minutes on a good day. Now, I complete my stop in less than 5, mostly just scan and go.

Perhaps there is hope for me yet. Question is, is there hope for the Front Room? Rather than having a bitch session about it, we could always just start posting and discussing things like we used to, and see if things pick up.

Oh really? Maybe I just took it out of context when you went into my thread (the only one you did it two BTW) and accused me of spamming. And then when I told you to get your panties out of a bunch, you created this thread and put a link to it in my thread where you admitted that it was your response to me.
You are right, I must have taken that out of context.

The problem is not the existence of non-serious threads, but the lack of serious threads. Most of the non-serious threads would not be there if there were serious threads. If Pever has a problem, then maybe he should start posting something interesting instead of bitching at everyone else. When was your last good thread in the Frontroom Pever?

In the frontroom, maybe 31/05/10, or maybe 23/09/09. I don't start many things in the frontroom because I don't have anything really relevant to the frontroom.

On the topic of me though, its 'pever' not 'Pever'.

    Lighten up..

There's always been spam in the frontroom, the only difference is there used to be a high quantity of interesting threads to disguise the number. Why so serious?

The frontroom makes me sigh. To dream of the glory days....no matter. One must make posts interesting, and in order to do that, one must have something interesting to say. That we have no such thing, I suggest that we are bored people. Hence why we are here. And bored people tend to spam.

If all of us here invest little more time and effort towards the frontroom, I'm sure it will be just as fun as the glory days was.

Hehehe, I'm running for Grand Poobah of the Old & Crotchety Club, can I count on your vote?

I haven't been accused of being "cool" since the late 70's and pretty much get the Grampa Simpson treatment nowadays.

Beefy's got the measure of it. The Frontroom is the members and their interactions, observations, opinions and such determine the perceived quality of the conversations. Lemur and I just referee to prevent all y'all from getting too crazy and burning the place down. Just like the stock market, it tends to fluctuate.

    Spam?
    My threads unopened?

I post in the frontroom to start conversation about lifes little oddities. I did it and will continue to do it for the lulz.

My posts are ralery ever serious in the FR because I would prefer the conversations grow which ever way they would like.

I would also point out this is not the first time I have been accused of getting special treatment it mostly stems from those who do get there threads closed because they are arbrasive, vulgar, or have no conversation to grow

    Indeed.

I would like to make an official statement that Strike does not get preferential treatment because the moderators love him. This is completely false, slanderous, and a low attack on the integrity of the moderators.

Strike, instead, gets preferential treatment because he sends us all those smutty pics he takes of his sisters in the bathroom.

What? You accepted a few pictures in return for your favours

When I was a mod, I refused the pictures and got lots of money instead. As a result, I retired and will never have to work again.

Reminds me of when he sent a picture of his girlfriend, and I commented "Isn't that your sister?", he kind of stuttered for a bit and went "errr... yeah... sorry... wrong picture". He forgot to send me the real picture of his girlfriend though, I think he forgot.
