Default The Epic Tale of Reb

I'm here to tell you the Epic Tale of Reb. Who is Reb? Only one of the greatest warriors of his age, famed around the land. At least, he will be famed after his Epic starts getting around.

Reb (balloon for anyone who gets the reference) is a new character of mine in the game Torchlight. He is a member of the Destroyer class, which is basically a big beefy guy that runs around hitting things with their sword/s. The only problem with this is that, being new to the game I'm not actually very good at it, and I am playing on Very Hard difficulty. The rules are simple, no cheats or exploits, and no browsing the game's forums for tips or builds. It ends when I defeat the final boss.

To start, a pic of Reb and his trusty trained war ferret Pag.

And now our epic tale begins.

Reb had long wandered the wilderness honing his martial skills for the day when he would start his first quest. After years of such travel he knew that day had come when rumors of troubles befalling the city of Torchlight, famous for its mines being the source of most of the kingdom's, a substance essential to magic spells. Apparently the mines had been filling with monsters, and many spoke of a taint on the ember that came from Torchlight. So Reb trekked many miles to reach the city. Knowing the dangers that may face him there, he equipped himself as a mighty warrior, with his no shirt and rusty sword.

Upon his arrival he questioned the citizens of the town as to the source of their troubles and how to alleviate them. After much careful reflection upon their words he decided it might help to start by killing the mosters that overran the town.

Sadly, his time spent reflecting might have been put to better use hacking and stabbing, as most of the monsters were dead. After dispatching a few ratlings, pathetic creatures, he came upon two fellow heros, a great sage and a warrior. The warrior ran off after the creature who had led the monsters to the surface, while the sage remained behind to study the cause of the attack. The Sage, introducing herself as Syl, saw Reb's great skill in dispatching creatures a quarter his size and knew him to be a mighty warrior. She explained that she had been summoned by her master and teacher Alric, who had been studying the blight in the ember mines, only to find the town overrun with monsters. She promised great riches if Reb would go into the mines and aid her warrior friend Brink.

Finally given a quest worthy of him Reb dove into the mines. Lesser warriors might have thought to do a little reconaissance, maybe head back up to town for some better equipment, but Reb knew his destiny to be met head on and hacked to death with his rusty sword. Indeed he was so brave as to even turn his back on armed opponents as a way to taunt them, as if their pickaxes or deadly poison could harm his perfectly chiseled physique.

V&V RIP Helmut Becker, Duke of Bavaria.
