Default Issues with Roman military reforms

I have tried looking for answers on the forum, and I am pretty sure someone already posted something along the lines of what I am going to say. But I have not been able to locate the answer or answers to my issue.

In my Roman game I have taken control of Italy and Sicily and many other surrounding areas all before 242 BC to receive the Polybian military reforms. And when the game passes 210 BC they still don't happen. Maybe I just need to be more patient and maybe cheat less. The two big cheat codes I use are add_money X amount and process_cq settlement name here.

When the 'march of time' trigger happens I can't upgrade any MIC to the new reforms. Any help in these matters would be great!

Otherwise its still a great mod and I am glad it was made! :)

    Welcome to the org JohnS!

Hrmmm you should have them by now? Go to Roma and look for a building called 'Polybian Military Era'. I think the Polybian reforms occur without much notice, because there's not such a drastic change? Marian is the bigger, more noticeable one. And Imperial...well you get the idea.

    EDIT: From the FAQ
    -At least year 242
-Hold 2 of these cities (Segesta, Mediolanum, Patavium, Bononia)
-Hold 2 of these cities (Lilibeo, Messana, Syracuse)
    OR
    -Wait until 210BC
(You get the new units only after upgrading your MICs.)
Have you got any territories of Segesta, Mediolanum, Patavium, Bononia? You need them for the reform too. But then again you said you waited until 210 so it sould have kicked in nonetheless.

Have you been initiating the EB Script? If you haven't been, that's probably the reason why you haven't gotten the reforms. -M

    Hello, Thanks for the reply.

To your statements, unfortunately Roma (Rome) states Camillan Military Era. And there has been no structure to upgrade the MIC to the Polybian. The MIC in Rome is upgraded to the highest level. I didn't think this would matter, just that an upgraded structure be built.

As for the second part I took all of Northern Italy and Sicily, I even took Massalia and Segestica and Iuvavoaeta and even Gergovia. Also I took Alalia and Karali. So I am not sure what is going on. I think it may have something to do with the cheat, 'process_cq (settlement)'. The other cheat add_money (amount) may not have that big a deal about the reforms.

Hey Mulceber, I received the Polybian reforms before its just in my recent new games I haven't. So I am not sure what I did differently, what do you mean by EB script? The advice guy in the top left corner?

Yeah, that's who he means. Also, afaik the March of Time only gives the Romani a couple of extra ships and not troops.

You need to restart the script every time you load the game. If you haven't, the reforms won't occur and the A.I. is crippled by economical problems.

Also, the Polybian and Marian reform markers don't remove the previous markers. So the 'Camillan military era' will still show. To get the Polybian troops you must upgrade your MIC. If you have already add_moneyed and process_cqed your way to the top baracks available, you may not have noticed this.

Do you not also have to shut down the game everytime you exit a savegame. IIRC, you cannot reload multiple savegames without restarting RTW because it screws up the script.

Or is this just a persistent rumour that has managed to survive for several years on these forums?

I didn't have the EB script 'engaged' for a lack of a better word. But yes I finally did get the Polybian reforms. Some cities show the 'Polybian military Era' after the barracks have been upgraded some places do not. But the units did change.

But thanks for all the help! :) I guess i'm one of those players that get annoyed by the 'adviser' and I shut it off. I hope they keep that in mind for when Europa Barbarorum 2 comes out. Anyone heard any updates about that?

I think it still messes with it. The most I've noticed is damaged gov buildings in conquered settlements.

This is a problem when you start a new campaign or load a save-game with a different faction. I'm not sure whether this also causes problems if you simply go back a few turns.
