On the theme of freedom of speech/expression, koran-burners are arrested in the UK.

    Police state! Panic! Uproar!

But at least Gateshead Council left us feeling all warm and fuzzy:

"The kind of behaviour displayed in this video is not at all representative of our community as a whole. Our community is one of mutual respect and we continue to work together with community leaders, residents and people of all faiths and beliefs to maintain good community relations."

They are turning the country into a massive Millennium Dome - a bland mess which has the main quality of not offending anyone anywhere.

In a way it's funny but then you realise it is also pretty terrifying. In 1697, Thomas Aitkenhead became the last man to be sent to the gallows for blasphemy in Britain, for denying the authority of the scripture and the Lorship of Jesus Christ.

In 2010, you go to jail for burning the Koran.

I'm almost speechless, but not quite. What the...

England gone absolutely whack for sure. Monty Python couldn't be made anymore nowadays. That hidious fear to offend anyone, mamma duck obviously doesn't have the faith in humanity she preaches but wants all ducklings to march in perfect sync regardless.

Multiculturalism truly is the most fundamentalist religion of them all, at least the catholic priests only fiddle their lower regions and sometimes shove the wrong thing in these mouths instead of 'n their skulls

What happened to Britain? For so long we were such a well balanced society, we never had major revolutions, no radical ideologies ever took power.

And all of a sudden, this...

Magic word or not, it would be unthinkable 20 years ago, but nowadays it simply can be true, and because it's england it probably is. England is it's own Monty Python sketch really, imagine a toddler saying yuck when he eats a spoon of curry, he doesn't like curry, and an army of thoushalnots rush in to intervene and paint a big R on his head. Sketch? Nah it's england, that actually happened. Without the painting of course.

I thought people might raise that point, but the article itself said the arrest was purely on the grounds of inciting racial hatred.

How can you even incite racial hatred by insulting a religious book? *facepalm*
