    Question Can someone explain this?

    Is there something that i do not know, or is it a bug? Did this happen anywhere except germanic heavy?

    Settlements that rebel in favour of another faction build up an army with silver and golden chevrons sometimes, and more of them if they rebel a second time...

    What, even armour and attack upgrades? Damn...

    And just when i hoped that i can upgrade my cataphracts...

    Well in my KH campaing Ionia was full of super Hoplitai Haploi, capable to annihilate agyraspidai, courtesy of the AS ^^

    My theory is that unit selection for rebelling towns works through the same programming routine as the automatic unit selection for custom battles. The town gets a virtual budget to spend on units and upgrades. The unit choice is limited to what is available for recruitment (based on the MICs and the "faction_owner" setting of the governor's residence), but experience and weapon upgrades can be bought regardless. An exception is when a revolting town is designated the eleutheroi capital: then it can recruit anything.

    That would pretty much explain it. I agree, it makes more sense than anything else.
