Thread: Epic Trailer Music?

    Default Epic Trailer Music?

Hey! I realize this is probably a VERY WEIRD question to be asking here but of all of the forums that I belong to I figured that this would be the best one to ask this on, haha!

Anyways, I just heard the song "Requiuem for a Tower" which can be found all over Youtube. It's this really epic song from a Lord of the Rings movie trailer.

Anyways, I'm wondering if there are any other equally kick-arse or even more kick-arse (or almost as kick-arse :P) songs like that that anyone knows of?

I know there are a bunch of companies that make trailer music like Immediate Music and X-Ray Dog but I have no idea which songs of theirs are good and dramatic like Requiem for a tower.

Anyways, thanks for reading, and extra thanks if you can help me out!

This is more Yaseikhaan's department, but I'll introduce you to a couple of my favorites in the meantime. First though, keep in mind that "Reqiuem for a Tower" is the most well-known trailer song for a reason. None of the others I've heard can really measure up to it.

My personal favorite is I Still Have A Soul by Epic Score. Nice riff, and especially an excellent buildup, something which you don't really see in most trailer music.

Also on the list is Serenata Immortale from Immediate Music, a group you mentioned. Less buildup, but it's consistently pretty good.

Finally, if you're looking for a sampling, I suggest you check out the Epic Music Mixes on Youtube. I've only linked you to Immediate Music's personal mix, but there are at least five others that deal with trailers.

And now I pass the baton off to khaan, who will probably yell at me because I didn't let him be the one to introduce you to the Epic Music Mixes. He's the one that got me into this genre, BTW.

I personally think Mass Effect 2's trailer with Two Steps from Hell's song "Heart of Courage" is the best there ever is.

Excellent idea for a thread. Requiem is pretty much the pinnacle of epic trailer music, but hardly the only very good one. Few of my favorites:

The Sorceror (remix) by X-ray dog. Somewhat short, but purely excellent for what it lasts for.

Heart of courage, as Hooah linked too, is most excellent. Another good one from Two Steps from Hell is Protectors of the Earth, although its a bit more subdued than it should be at times.

    Another classic(literally) is Oh Fortuna.

Immediate Music is a pretty good source, as you have noticed. GH pointed out one of my favs with Serenata. Few others I like from them are Onward to Freedom, Prometheus Rising, and The Reluctant Warrior.

As GH mentioned, and I shall refrain from yelling at him, if you want a splendid sampling of awesome epic music, try the epic music compilations. They're the ones made by someone with the username DragonstarDT. There's thirteen right now. Between them all, its over an hour and a half straight of excellence. I'd only advise skipping five, as its "classic" video game music, and I don't really find the old super mario theme all that epic. Aside from that, enjoy them, bookmark them, listen to them while playing games or reading books or mowing the lawn and everything else.

Lastly, my personal favorite, aside from Requiem, is Preliator by Globus/Immediate music(Globus is a subdivision of IM).
