One solution could be to give little corners of land to the Ptolemaioi, just like in EB...
But maybe it's not necessary, in a M2TW mod for example Venice always, and I mean always, start huge naval invasions...

I agree that it would be nice to have a Ptolemaic settlement nearer to Greece... In EB the Ptolemaics really don't care much about the Aegean, while IRL i think they even had some cities as far as Thrace under their control

I've yet to see la Serenissima not starting a naval expedition followed by an invasion, all done by the AI without scripting...
Also it usually targets rebels and then focuses on other factions...
