    Default Intifeta

Explosives send all over the world, from Greece with love. What to do, this country is rapidly becomming a failed state. Is leftist terrorism back, quite a feat I must say that can't have been easy. Germany almost lost Merkel they could intercept the explosives in time. But very ambitious an attack.

I'll bet that even if all the explosives killed someone, the total death toll would be less than that from food poisoning from german pork products.

Sending explosives to the head of state of the most powerful European nation is rather reckless, and why Chile and Panama, unless chaos is what they want. I don't think we saw the last of this. Maybe we should quarantine Greece for a while until they sort this out.

Imagining the Greeks constructing a bomb that works is far fetched.

That so many got through after the first was found is kinda unnerving given the high-profile of the targets. Must have been send from different locations meaning there are a lot of people involved, RAF couldn't have pulled this off way too small for that.

Hmm, news here says the bomb was found in the postal station outside the chancellor's residence and contained black powder, so it's not like "Germany almost lost Merkel" who apparently wasn't even there at the time.
Maybe it's the greek radical left saying "thank you" for our money and because their government now has to save money since we aren't willing to pay for all their expenses now. But then I already knew they were nuts when they demonstrated demanding that Greece keeps spending more money than it has.

I'm kinda unknowing about the german pork problem, wasn't it Britain that spread the mad cow flu?

The british never caused a pork scandal that I'm aware of, so I took the cow scandal, why that has to mean that I think pork comes from cows is beyond me but if it makes you happy...

During the wave of 'western' terrorism in the 1970s, far harsher measures were put into place than against contemporary non-western terrorism. Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK all deployed their armies domestically in the 70s/80s, some having been in virtual states of emergency for years. By comparison the current measures pale into insignificance.

There got to be a point, but I'm really bad at leftist logic. Anyways few things, all over the world was 'within the EU', it were the Panama and Chile embassy that was targetted (how did they ever wrong them, but again I'm really bad at leftist logic). Also the Dutch and Russian ones, a bomb-letter for Berluscone was intercepted. They sure know how to make friends. Greece closes postal service which nobody will notice because it's Greece, but a proper response. It baffles me how this was kept under the radar.

    1. Germany sends money to Greece
    2. Greece sends bomb to Germany as a thank-you gift.

As it seems explosives should be replaced with firecrackers and that this was more of a bored rich kids stunt that got too big for it's own good. Good show if it is.

Frags, didn't you define "leftism" as meaning "state-control"?

The gorups sending these bombs(well, the ones we suspect are doing it) wishes to abolish the state altogether....

Anarchism doesn't equal "leftie" in any way.

@Louis: the way we react to things now and during the 60's are completely different. Why do you feel the need to compare two different times when we have two perfectly good examples in the present? Why compare domestic terrorism during the 60's to muslim terrorism in the present, when you can compare muslim terrorism in the present to domestic terrorism in the present...?

At least around the time Fragony wrote this, the suspicion that they were radical leftists was still everything that was known, I don't see anything wrong in what he said.
In fact you might want to substantiate your anarchism statement a bit better, or are you just pulling that out of thin air?

Yes, because the papers always ges their facts and definitions straight.

The "radical leftist groups" they are reffering to are anarchist groups. It's kinda like calling national socialism the "extreme(radical) right"; the right believes in the free market, and one would think that the extreme right believed extremely in the market, while national socialism doesn't have all that much faith in the market.

AFAIK, frags defines "the left" as wanting state control. Thus, a "radical leftist group" would logically support much state control; but does an anarchist want state control?

i just think its funny that everyone is blaming each other for a mess that only gets bigger because everyone is too busy blaming each other to think of a solution... or perhaps the chaos is too profitable to even start fixing it.

Seems like it is too profitable

.....But they're not just marxists, there are all kinds of anarchist and communists involved in the rioting in Greece. Everything from libertarian anarchists to collectivist anarchists and yes some marxists as well. You wouldn't call the anarchists who associate with the tea party movement leftists, would you? Well, that same kind of anarchists exists in Greece too, and they are of course rioting same as everyone else.
