M2TW Gold edition - Kingdoms Can't change soldiers and mounts of units

Maybe I entered the wrong keywords when I searched....but I din't find an answer for the following:

I got myself (playing as the apacheans) the chichimec riders. No problems so far; but then I tried to change the type of soldier and mount (horse) being used, and i didn't work.

By "didn't work" I mean that when I change the type of soldier being used then there's no soldier sitting on the horse on the battle map. Same goes for the mount (horse) when I change the type of horse then there's no horse on the battle map for that specific unit.

It looks like the soldier is sitting on nothing....on thin air...levitating.
For the soldier: It looks like a ghost is holding the reins, no soldier.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I did not find it



PS: I'm not really new to modding. I'm an old RTW modding veteran ;) and I know about unpacking and the EDU and EDB files etc. but this thing is really frustrating and any help would be greatly appreciated.
