Night 0
The Galactic Federation Starship Olympus coasted through space at a leisurely pace. It was headed for a planet controlled by the Space Pirates, who had recently resurged, probably due to the Council of Villains event and the empowering of their leader, Ridley, that came with it. The spacecraft was not moving quickly, however, because the forces on board were still being trained.
The Inter-dimensional Federation of Heroes, or IDFH, had established something of an uneasy alliance with the GF Marines. With a common foe in Ridley, both sides saw the wisdom in an alliance, but so far it had not worked out especially well. The heroes viewed the GF forces as grunts and common troopers, and mostly useless in a fight- and the marines were offended that the heroes would dare to insult them on their own ship. In fact, all the IDFH forces in Dimension 003 Metroid were stationed on the GFS Olympus, except for two who had gone missing a few months previously. And then there was the matter of the GF hiring several bounty hunters to fight for them, many of them former criminals.
It was not the best of situations. And it would soon devolve into something far worse.
A dot appeared on the Olympus’s radar screen. It was a friendly dot, requesting permission to dock. The ship was scanned and immediately recognized as the renowned bounty hunter Samus’s Gunship. The Fleet Admiral Castor Dane was notified and it was granted permission to dock, as was usually the case.
Minutes later, there was chaos. A siren began blaring, red lights came up. A messenger ran immediately to Admiral Dane’s room, shouting:
“Sir! The docking bay is under assault! The entire sector has been wiped out!”
Dane looked concerned and shocked, but not fearful.
“By whom? How is it possible we didn’t detect them coming?”
“I’m not sure, our cameras have been hacked and disabled by some sort of unknown technology. But we’ve received no word from Samus Aran since then, either. She could be harmed or even killed!”
“Perhaps… but there may be a more obvious explanation than that. Send a squad down to find any hostiles and search for survivors.”
“Yes, sir!”
The messenger hurried off, and Admiral Dane scratched his chin.
“So it begins…”
Not twenty minutes had passed before the messenger returned. Dane expected news of the docking bay attack, but this was not it.
“Sir! The medical wing has been breached!”
This time, Dane had more of a face that implied he was about to say “are you kidding me?” It only flashed for a moment, but he kept his cool.
“Details! What’s going on?”
“There are several survivors who managed to escape. They said that there wasn’t even a spacecraft. Just three shadowy figures, and they were all using… using…”
“Using what? Spit it out, man!”
“Phazon! They attacked us with Phazon!”
“That could only mean…”
“They think it’s the Dark Hunter!”
Dane looked worried now. He was about to dismiss the messenger, but was interrupted by Aurora Unit 242, the organic supercomputer that ran the ship.
“Admiral Dane, I believe you should be seeing this.”
A holo-screen stretched across the wall. On it, what appeared to be a large, metallic dragon was rocketing towards them through space. All of a sudden, a massive crash rocked the entire ship, and the lights dimmed for a moment.
“What’s going on, 242?”
"The cargo bay has been penetrated and the engines have been destroyed. The Olympus has been rendered incapable of moving."
“We’re stranded… out in Pirate Space.”
