Thread: Seleucid Cardaces?

I was wondering wondering if these presumed persian hoplites also made their way into seleucid army(also, if not, what happened to them; it's hard to believe they were compeltely annihilated at Issos, especially since they presumably appear in the armies of many neighboring nations).

According to EB's unit list, they appear in the armies of Hayasdan, Pontos and Parthia but not Seleucids. However, the unit description speaks of their evolution and I've also found some mentions of 'cardaces' in historical descriptions of seleucid armies.

According to their entry on the Unit List, they have spear and sword. That can't be right, can it? I thought all the spear-and-sword infantry lost their sword backup?

They fight like Hypaspistai, Massiliotoi Hoplitai, Galatikoi Kuarathoroi etc. The Seleucids can't recruit them because the unit is meant for the factions that make a chance to "revive" the old Persian Empire?

Actually they fight like Mori Gaesum, Alpine Phalanx, or Ipikratan Hoplites. That is underhanded spear and sword which is not bugged and works much better than the overhand spear sword combo.

Whoops my bad, still I find auxilia or Iphikratean hoplites taking up swords to take down a cavalry unit.
