    Default Damaged DVD player

After having a dvd in while the player was tilted (fixing a bad CPU fan and forgot to remove the dvd first), it's now almost impossible for the player to properly read a dvd. The dvd handled it just fine, no damage there.

No humming, and if it reads, it take ages. Fixable, or buy a new one? This model sucks btw, second one that breaks down within 2 years (first without any visible reason). TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223F ATA Device.
We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

DVD drives are so cheap, I see no reason not to replace it. Seriously, when you can grab an internal DVD burner for twenty bucks, there's no reason not to; just skip Starbucks or McDonald's or whatever for a few days, and you've got the cash.

Mainly annoyed because of not being in a good position to handle extra expenses atm.
Way better prices than I easily can get, more like 50 bucks (weak dollar).

Equivivalent to the first price cut on a computer game actually, or an expansion. 35 bucks?

And of course the market is cornered locally by the same model as the failing ones... Hopefully the replacement L version is more durable at least.
