IIRC this is linked to patching it onwards to version 1.5; if you already have a patched version this file should not be created. However, it could be that my mind plays a trick on me this time

If your game runs smooth and without problems, do not bother, just keep the normal safety-rules, meaning different slots for your saves, backups of your saves.
