I'm only going from vague memories, but I remember it being a PC platformer where you play as a (mad?) scientist and you had to combine certain chemicals to continue. I distinctly remember the dominant background music being well-known classical compositions.
I can date it to about the mid 90s (maybe a little after but I can't be sure on that), though definitely before 2000.
