Default Seleukid units appearing in strange place...

    Hi,

I recently installed and began playing this wonderful evolution of RTW so I must congratulate all the geniuses who produced this fantastic game.

I was playing my HK campaign on M/M and noticed small Seleukid armies marching across the Balkans and heading in a south easterly direction towards the greek shores. They seem to appear out of nowhere and I am fed up bribing them to get them out of the way.

I toggled FOW and found a trail of such units all the way back to denmark. Anybody any ideas why this is so? FYI the Seleukids have no territories in Europe in my campaign.

Thanks again and my first post here so apologies if wrong forum etc.

I think I found out why this is happening - I checked the north sea coast and sure enough there is a Seleukid fleet off Denmark's west coast. So presumably the AI, for some mad reason, unloaded the army and marched them across the wilds of central europe and back to warmer climes. One or 2 units at a time.

I heard the Vanilla Latium province was shifted somewhere in northern Europe, that could be the cause?

Check if there was some seleukid diplomats at denmark... If those units are assortment of germans, that should be the culprit.

I've seen something similar but then those Seleucid armies came from Spain. It was a Seleucid diplomat who was behind it. He was buying Luso armies almost every other turn. I had no problems with that though since I played as Qarthadastim and was at war with the Lusos.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately my four saves files are corrupted and I have restarted my HK campaign. Bloody frustrating.

I never realised the AI bought off other armies though. Sounds brilliant.

I have seen that if I play VH campaign difficulties then they bribe others armies more often. This could be because they get money bonus in VH.

In my AS campaign, my ally Makedonia sent multiple diplomats to the east bribing all sorts of rebel armies scattered around Persia and India. Helped me out a lot reducing devestation and allowing more trade along the roads.
