Dear everyone, this is my first post please HELP!
I am using Ultimate Unwrap Pro from Brad Bolthouse, I have been in communication with him about his CAS exporter. The CAS exporter has been updated lately!
I am trying to modify RTW by changing a recourse model in CAS format over, for example making the elephant twice as big or moving mesh around so you can see holes in the model! I can select the imeprial campaign see the video of the falcon, and than the game crashes!
I place the modified files in "Rome - Total War\data\models_strat" directory! I have not created a MOD for it what you have to do in M2TW! I want to make a MOD for M2TW and use Hexagon and Poser for modeling.
1) Is some one using his program and can you export them to RTW, because I can not!
2) Can I do modification like that or do I have to create a MOD for it?
3) Does RTW uses alpha maps what Ultimate Unwrap can extract when you import the models? I can not find them in RTW or M2TW!
4) How do I place a new made building into the game?
Below you can some CAS file information what I scraped together from other Forums and this one! My apologies if I did not acknowledge your work!
CAS file information
Roman Total War
In RTW CAS files are used for models and animations. In RTW Animation files, while also in the CAS format, is different than the CAS file for models. In this, the file only contains ROTATIONS of the bones. There is no data on the location of the bone or the animation of movement (except Scene Root).
Medieval 2 Total War
In M2TW CAS files are used for battle map/strat map animations and strat map models (not the battle map models) - there is no way to access M2TW battle map models at this time.
You can use a pac a this is an exporter only, use Vercingetorix's importer to get TW assets into 3DSmax.
Medieval 2 Total War utilizes CAS format for all unit and siege animations, as well as CAS mesh format for strategy map models (units, buildings, features).
BONES information
for human units, in RTW if you ignore Scene Root, it's 19 bones
for human units, and in M2TW, again ignoring Scene Root, it's 20 bones
for human units.
The more information I can get the more I can tell Brad about it so WE can get it working in RTW and M2TW
