Default Fallout New Vegas: Black Gold

    Game Postponed Due to Workload

There's rumours flyin' about in the ole Mojave Desert; turns out the folk at Goodsprings have gone and struck oil! But that ain't necessarily a good thing. Such a findin' ain't gonna keep itself quiet around these places, an' I'd bet my last bottle-cap that there's gonna be people fightin' for this new source o' gold. Heads will turn, that's for sure, and when the likes o' the NCR an' the Legion catch wind of the news, the little town o' Goodsprings is gonna be destroyin' and backstabbin' itself from both the inside and out.

    Overview:
Black Gold is a 17-player small mafia game based around the starting town of Goodsprings from New Vegas. Players will adapt the role of one of a range of faces to be found in-game in an attempt to decide the fate of the town. Will peace prosper, or will the town be overrun by those with "evil" on the agenda?

In case anybody was wondering, there aren't any spoilers in this game. That's why I picked the first town you come across.

    Mechanics (for Secura):
"Basic" mafia setup, not wishing to over-complicate things
Town: based around the characters of Goodsprings, even possessing unique traits!
Mafia: based one of the darker factions of the Mojave.
    ?????
    There's a few slight surprises
Oh, and the townies get killed by the mafia.

Interested (and will be given priority places):
    Captain Blackadder
    Secura
    Tiberius of the Drake
    Subotan
    ACIN
    Johnhughthom
    Double A
    Romanic
    Slashandburn
    Skooma Addict
    LordofLent

Anyone want in on this? Any questions?

    OMG SUNNY SMILES AND CHEYENNE.

    *cough*

I like those two characters... ¬_¬

I think you should elaborate a little on game mechanics and stuff, but I'm definitely interested... was going to run my own FO:NV game, you see. xD

I can confirm that Sunny and her beloved Cheyenne feature in this game. As for the mechanics, I'm not going to over-complicate it as my last game ended up with a few "minor" issues.

YES! YES! YES! There is finally a mafia game where I know more than 30% of the lore! Logged in 120+ hours on that game already.

I always play nice in the beginning and come back at level 30. BOOM, Headshot! In By the way hunting rifles are far too powerful for anyone in this town. A scoped Varmint rifle if your lucky.
Parla più piano e nessuno sentirà, il nostro amore lo viviamo io e te,
nessuno sa la verità, neppure il cielo che ci guarda da lassù.
    Insieme a te io resterò,
    amore mio, sempre così.
Parla più piano e vieni più vicino a me, Voglio sentire gli occhi miei dentro di te,
nessuno sa la verità, è un grande amore e mai più grande esisterà.
    Insieme a te io resterò,
    amore mio, sempre così.

    I noticed that, too.

Seconded, although I should warn people that this isn't a hardcore, ATPG-style Star Wars type game. Weapons are used for mere descriptive purposes. Perks are what everybody should be anticipating.

Oh, and Varmint Rifle Scope? Who's selling that bad boy?

Everyone does if you hit up the New Vegas Nexus website and get the right mod installed.

Yeah, problem number one: I'm on 360. My laptop would become a pile of green goo if I tried to run NV on it.

EDIT: Besides, playing on an xbox means you have to do things more.... legitimately. Otherwise, I'd be running around screaming "ALL YOUR BASE" by now.

On my NCR Ranger save, I had the fortune to buy a Varmint Night Scope and Silencer from the Goodsprings Store at the start of the game, t'was great until I picked up the Ratslayer. :P

Weapons are overrated, all I need is VATS and a police baton.

    In fact,

All I need is VATS (pom pom pom pom pom)
All I need is VATS (pom pom pom pom pom)
All I need is VATS, VATS
    VATS is all I need.

VATS takes most of the fun out of it. IMO, there's nothing better than the Gauss rifle combined with the Meltdown perk and a bit of stealth.

I guess that you're right, VATS makes the game too easy, but I played on PS3 and like a lot of people, I can't aim with a joystick.

You can add me to the interested list. :P

It's called a thumbstick. Joysticks go on your lap.

I wonder why they called them joysticks?

The best PC mods turn the shooting into an above average FPS and give it the complexity of a great RPG. I suggest you repurchase it for PC once you get one that can handle it and I will show you links to some amazing stuff made.

EDIT: What I mean to say is that, they improve the overall quality of the game (and it's difficulty) so you won't feel like you are "cheating" or doing things "illegitimately". In fact, for me they produced the exact opposite effect.

Indeed. Bullet time mod comes to mind. This game is my current obsession. Just beat it today after god knows how many hours. Keep scrapping characters for new builds...my bad habit with Elder Scrolls/Fallout games.

I'm playing very hard right now and, for the most of it, it's too easy. I don't use hardcore mode though; I found the constant eating/sleeping too annoying.

Seconded to the extreme. I'm on my fourth character now and I've only completed one storyline because I kept changing pathways in terms of weapons and making "jack of all trades" characters.

    Guys,

I can only offer my most heartfelt apologies for this, but I'm going to have to stick this on the backshelf. There's essays and other assorted things looming in the background, and I just haven't the time.

If somebody wants to take the theme and run with it, go right ahead. Otherwise it looks like it'll have to wait for the summer.
