    Default He sleeps!

Finally, he sleeps through the night.

Last Saturday, the baby slept from 11.30 pm 'til 8.30 am (I had to wake him up!), so we started hoping that 4 months of sleep deprivation were coming to an end.

Alas, the next days, he woke up at 3 am again. He didn't cry, he just made some sounds, so we got up, changed diaper, prepared milk etc.

Tuesday night, he was awake again at 3 am. It was my shift (my wife and I take turns), but I was exhausted and didn't want to get up; apparently, I fell asleep again, and so did he.

Wednesday night, my wife also resisted the urge to get up at the first sound, and yep, he fell asleep again.

Last night, I didn't even hear him, so he probably slept straight until 7.00 am, just like mum and dad.

That's three nights in a row with a normal, good night sleep of more or less 8 hours for all of us!

    Hurray!

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

Hehehe, it's tough to overcome that instinct to leap to baby at the first sound. Subsequent children and sleep deprivation temper the reaction time. Has he started on baby food yet?
That will be an adjustment period too, but should help him sleep longer without waking up because of hunger. How much does he weigh now?

My little stinker used to be a midnight rambler. Active throughout the night till daddy went to work, then sleep much of the day till I stumbled home. Coffee and a series of combat naps were my survival kit.

Wait a decade and you will have the exact opposite problem. My parents practically have to drag me out of bed in the morning.

Indeed. We finally discovered the power of ignoring

LOL! After the last few months, I have decided to no longer use the expression "to sleep like a baby". I think the expression is a lie invented to encourage young people to procreate

He's gotten his first few spoons, to learn. He still doesn't quiet grasped the technique. Most of the food disappears in all kinds of places, except his stomach.

Nothing is cuter than a big smile with a mouth full of food, though

Still only 4.6 kg, which is roughly 10.14 lbs. He's a little one and he grows slow. He doesn't eat very much, apparently, he doesn't need it.

Ugh. At least our little one slept in blocks of 3 hours, night and day. Sleep, wake up, diaper, eat, sleep etc. It slowly went to 4, than 5 hours of sleep, while slowly managing not to fall asleep right after his milk. Then a long while between 5 and 6 hours of sleep. And now he sleeps through the night (did wake up at 5 a.m. again, Friday night; can't expect him to already sleep through every single night).

It's amazing how much such a little one changes in such a short amount of time. It goes fast. Allthough I'm happy he now sleeps through the night, I sometimes wished it all wouldn't go that fast.

    Most likely

And within two decades we'll have sleepness nights again, while the little one is making fun, chasing skirts and getting drunk.

That's what my grandparents did as well, but with Jenever

Nowadays, they call that child abuse...
