There was an intended Classical age mod, but I believe it has stalled/not-taken-off. I decided I'd try to take a crack at it myself; I'm not quite 100% committed yet, but looking through all this info is becoming a fun little hobby; so I'm just hoping to finish the concept phases.
I really do love the Ancient Era and especially the history of Ancient Greece; so really, that has so far been the focus of my info-scouring efforts. I've been using Wikipedia for the most part, a map from the Historical Atlas by William R. Shepherd, and google(though google's been the weakest link for me, strangely).
The intended time frame of the mod(though I guess it depends on the scale of the map), is 510-509 BC to Alexander's death I suppose. Information tied exactly to the 510-509 BC date is really, really hard to come by, though, so I guess if I have to I could try switching to a Phillip-ish timeline. But for now I'm gonna try to stick with the earlier date.
Now then, the reason I came here is because this forum(Europa Barbarorum) is the greatest concentration of knowledge on the Ancient Era that I have so far come across on the interwebs. I was wondering if I could ask you a few things?
Could anyone translate these three names into transliterated Ancient Greek for me, if you could: Central Greece, Western Greece, and Aegean Islands? I don't know either Greek or Ancient Greek, but I do know Greece should be "Hellás", just not sure about the rest.
Secondly, if you have the knowledge and spare time, could you take a look at one of my lists and tell me: 1. Did any of these cities NOT exist in 510-509 BC?(I know most of them did, but my map is from a later date, so...), and 2. Were they important enough to be counted as a city/province on the map?
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
(In case you did not know, Victoria 2 features thousands of Provinces grouped handfuls into Regions; so here: Attica would be the 'Region', and the cities listed under Attica would be the 'Provinces'. 'Central Hellas' is just a supra-regional grouping for my own organizational convenience; same with 'Hellas', but meant as a national/cultural grouping.)
Hellás
Central Hellás - 6?
1. Attikḗ(Attica) 5(7?)
- Athênai(Athens)
- Dekéleia(Decelea)
- Eleusís
- Marathṓn
- Thorikos
- Ōrōpós(Oropus)?
- Salamís(Salamis)?
2. Boiōtía(Boeotia) 6
- Korṓneia(Coronea)
- Orchomenus
- Plátaia
- Tánagra
- Thêbai(Thebes)
- Thespiaí
3. Eúboia(Euboea) 4
- Kárustos(Carystus)
- Khalkís(Chalcis)
- Erétria
- Histiaea
4. Phōkís-Lokrís
- Ámphissa
- Antikyra
- Daulis(or Abae)?
- Delphoí(Delphi)
- Elateia
- Naúpaktos
- Opoûs
- Thronion
5. Mēlís-Dōrís-Aeniania-Oetaea-Dolopia
* Last region(5) isn't done yet, I'll update when I finish; also, they seemed too small to be separate Regions so I combined them. EDIT: Decided to Merge all the last 5 historical regions into one Region for the game. Too small otherwise and not enough cities, as I can find.
* Question marks (?), mean I don't know if they should be there or counted in another Region...
* All transliterated names are as I found them on Wikipedia, except Thorikos, Orchomenus, Histiaea and the last Region, 5; I couldn't find the proper transliterations except for Malis and Doris.
* Updated: Phokis-Lokris
Edit: I did a little guesswork on the three names; I've come up with 'Mesaios Hellas' for Central Greece, 'Hesperis Hellas' for Western Greece, and 'Aigaios Nesoi' for Aegean Islands... Does that sound about right?
Thank you.

Reason: Updated list. Additional info...
This sound like a very intriguing project. I enjoy Paradox games so I'd love to see this pan out.
That said, I can't really help you, I'm afraid. I don't own Victoria 2, so I can't help with the modding, and I can't help with translations because I only recently began studying ancient Greek. If you haven't, though, you should look at the EB bibliography. There's a link to it in one of the stickies.

Thank you for your supportive words and the info; the bibliography should be a big help.
Also, good luck with your study of Ancient Greek; I'd like to try it someday too.
I have decided to try orienting the concept towards an earlier date; quite possibly 380 BC. For a couple of reasons; the first being my info is much closer to this date than the 500s; secondly, it's just before the rise of many 'empires'; Second Athenian, Theban, Macedonian, etc.
