    TURN 2:

This turn, the Federals went on the offensive in the East, and the Confederates did so in the West. However, first, the Confederates did some major troop movements; The Western Department shifted troops east via the Virginia and Tennessee Railroad, and the Army of Virginia moved west to assist the Army of Tennessee in their campaign in Ohio. However, the Federals used the "opportunity" to launch an invasion of Western Virginia via the blue ridge mountains; They had 4 corps of their army attempt to march through Virginia, and get to Kentucky and Tennessee. However, their gamble failed, as the Army of Western Virginia formed to defend their homes, finally putting up a fight at Charleston, Virginia(Modern day West Virginia).

    Battle of Charleston:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Battle of: Charleston, VA(IRL WV)

    USA:
I and II Cavalry Corps, Army of Rhode Island
III and IV Infantry Corps, Army of Rhode Island
    43,600 Men, 120 Guns(20,000 Infantry, 20,000 Cavalry, 3,600 Artillerymen)

    CSA:
    Army of Western Virginia
    71,000 Men, 100 Guns(60,000 Infantry, 8,000 Cavalry, 3,000 Artillerymen)

    Skirmish at Cross Lanes:
    CSA: 12,000 Infantry
    USA: 8,000 Infantry

    Casualties and Losses:
    CSA: 272 Killed, 545 Wounded
    USA: 427 Killed, 853 Wounded

    Skirmish at Sissonville:
    CSA: 6,000 Infantry, 300 Artillerymen, 10 Guns
    USA: 2,500 Cavalry

    Casualties and Losses:
    CSA: 364 Killed, 727 Wounded
    USA: 413 Killed, 827 Wounded

    Skirmish at Coal Fork:
    CSA: 15,000 Infantry
    USA: 7,500 Cavalry

    Casualties and Losses:
    CSA: 909 Killed, 1,818 Wounded
    USA: 411 Killed, 823 Wounded

    Federal Bombardment:
    CSA: All Infantry(58,455)
    USA: All Artillery(3,600 + 120 Guns)

    Casualties and Losses:
    CSA: 433 Killed, 866 Wounded
    USA: None

    Total Battle Casualties:
    CSA: 1,978 Killed, 3,956 Wounded
USA: 427 Infantry Killed, 853 Infantry Wounded, 824 Cavalry Killed, 1,650 Cavalry Wounded
Total Casualties: 1,251 Killed, 2,503 Wounded

    Result: Confederate Victory

Meanwhile, the Confederate Western Department, taking over in Virginia, seized the crossings of the Potomac at Alexandria, as well as the Chain Bridge(the main connection between Arlington and Washington Proper) itself with no casualties. Finally this turn, the Confederate Army of Virginia arrived in Cincinatti, and will be ready to launch it's attack against the Army of Ohio next turn.

This concludes Turn 2, I will begin sending orders out later in this week. I will also update the troop numbers.

Given the timing of events, you guys are lucky that those corps weren't trapped in Charleston by 3 combined confederate armies.

    Internal Event:

Marylanders, after a campaign by Confederates in their homeland, flock to the armies of both sides.

    Confederate Maryland Corps:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    11 Infantry Brigades
    1 Artillery Brigade
    34,500 Men

    Federal Maryland Corps:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    7 Infantry Brigades
    1 Artillery Brigade
    29,800 Men

Both of these are independent commands, so they are essentially small CPU armies.

I will post the turn results later today.

    Not too bad!

    TURN 3:

This turn saw heavy casualties on both sides as the Confederates went on a strategic offensive. In the East, their Maryland campaign, combining the many Confederate movements with few Federal ones, saw the capture and execution of thousands of Federal troops, and the fall of 4 strategically important towns, all in Maryland. Because of this, Washington, D.C. has been isolated from the rest of the country, and the Army of Pennsylvania as well as the Federal Maryland Corps have all pulled back to the city and begun entrenching. However, Confederate positions at Arlington Heights have begun bombarding them with all 100 guns that the Western Department has in it's arsenal.

    Confederate Maryland Campaign:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Maryland Campaign

    Belligerents:
CSA: Western Department - 90,000 Men, 100 Guns
USA: Army of Pennsylvania - 116,538 Men, 120 Guns

    Harpers Ferry Campaign:
CSA: III Corps, Western Department(12,000 Infantry)
USA: I Corps, Army of Pennsylvania(15,310 Infantry)

    Casualties and Losses:
    CSA: 620 Killed, 1,240 Wounded
    USA: 888 Killed, 1,775 Wounded, 2,000 Captured

    Harpers Ferry falls

    Eastern Maryland Campaign:
CSA: VII Corps, I Cav Corps, and II Cav Corps, Western Department(9,000 Infantry(Mounted), 18,000 Cavalry)
USA: VI Corps, Army of Pennsylvania(12,000 Infantry, 1,800 Artillerymen, 60 Guns)

    Casualties and Losses:
CSA: 480 Infantry Killed, 960 Infantry Wounded
    USA: 672 Killed, 1,345 Wounded, 3,000 Captured
Baltimore, Annapolis, and Frederick, Maryland, fall

    Battle of Chain Bridge:
CSA: I Corps and 3rd Artillery Brigade, Western Department(12,000 Infantry, 1,500 Artillerymen, 50 Guns)
USA: II Corps, VII Corps, and Cavalry Corps, Army of Pennsylvania(28,000 Infantry, 10,000 Cavalry, 1,800 Artillerymen, 60 Guns)

    Casualties and Losses:
    CSA: 516 Killed, 1,032 Wounded
USA: 1,652 Infantry Killed, 3,304 Infantry Wounded, 60 Artillerymen Killed, 2 Guns Destroyed

    Total Casualties:
    CSA: 1,616 Killed, 3,232 Wounded
    4,848 Total

USA: 3,272 Killed, 6,424 Wounded, 2 Guns Destroyed, 5,000 Infantry Captured
    14,696 Total

    Result of Campaign:
Army of Pennsylvania takes horiffic losses
4 major towns fall to the Confederacy
    Washington, D.C. Surrounded
Marylanders flock to both the Southern and Northern Armies
All units of Army of Pennsylvania move into Washington, D.C.

    Major Confederate Victory

The formation of the Confederate Maryland Corps was greatly quickened by the capture of the Harpers Ferry Federal Arsenal.

Meanwhile, in the West, the Confederate Armies of Tennessee and Virginia both decided to head south and attempt to engage the Federal Army of Rhode Island(all of which has been sent to Western Virginia to assist the depleted Corps' there); The Army of Tennessee made it out, but the Army of Virginia was attacked by the Army of Ohio at Cincinatti...

    2nd Cincinatti:

Did you abandon your attack on the Army of Ohio? Your force was in Cincinatti and then just left.
