There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford
My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.
I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.
It is really quite sad, the amount of times politicians are photographed on some billionaire's yacht or in some foreign autocrat's villa.
The idea is that all the dictatorships in Africa are installed and propped up by France, not that the French regime is paid for by various Mediterranean autocrats. We're being had. Sarkozy - little creep - is the worst of the lot. Far too many of his media mogul and billionaire friends have far too easy access to the heart of the French state. In fact, the recent l'Oréal scandal showed the extraordinary hold of the rich and powerful over the French state. For example, the ultra rich do not simply pay taxes, instead they negotiate their tax rate directly with the minister. I never knew that.
The fact a cosmetics company is considerd one of the movers and shakers in French buisness gives me hope that there is a god.
That bastard L'oreal said he'll withhold all the kiwi shampoo

...You know after reading about 30 or so threads on this board I can honestly say this sort of corruption doesn't surprise me anymore. Well, at least this is happening in france so the population should have preexisting methods to deal with upperclass abusing the laws.![]()
Ja Mata, Tosa.
The poorest man may in his cottage bid defiance to all the forces of the Crown. It may be frail; its roof may shake; the wind may blow through it; the storm may enter; the rain may enter; but the King of England cannot enter – all his force dares not cross the threshold of the ruined tenement! - William Pitt the Elder
