    Default Magicka

I just heard about this game, at 7:00pm my time. I bought it at 7:02.

    4 player co op.

8 elements. You can mix and match, up to 5 at a time (you can do fire/fire/earth/earth for a bigger ball of molten rock than just fire/earth)

Spells can interact and combine to make more stuff.

Its $10, released here in 8 hours or so.

    http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011...A+Steam+RSS%29

The spell system in Magicka works as follows. Your character has access to eight elements, (fire, water, ice, earth, lightning, arcane, healing and shield), which are assigned to keys in and around the WASD area of your keyboard. Spells are cast simply by tapping out elements (up to a maximum of 5) and then tapping another button to cast the simultaneously either on yourself, as a projectile, in the area around you or on your sword.

So, if you tap out fire and earth, then hit projectile, your character flings a ball of molten rock. You tap out fire, fire, earth, earth, and the ball will be bigger. If you charge up healing and cast it on your sword, your sword will be imbued with healing magic and the next person you stab will be healed instead of harmed, and so on. There are a few special combinations to be learned too, from raising the dead to summoning a meteor shower.

This is gunna be soooo fun.

Steam version: http://store.steampowered.com/app/42910/ (Demo is there, under 300mb)
    Gamersgate: http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-MAGICKA/magicka
But it says it requires a 3rd party dl and account, so the game may have to go through steam anyway, I am not sure.

You get an extra Hat, sword and staff, as well as a new spell for buying through steam before Jan 31. Wizards Survival Kit DLC its called.

Seriously, try the demo out, its hilarious fun even on your own. The demo can also be used to play 4 player local Multiplayer. 1 keyboard, and 3 Xbox 360 controllers.

I've not come across anything thats prevented me from playing.

Some things should be changed, but for $10 its pretty good.

    Co-op is hilarious.

Graphics are fine. Suitable to the game.

Some people have framerate issues apparently. I don't, so cant help there.

The biggest annoyance is dieing. If you(all) die, the defeat screen takes like 10 seconds for you to be able to choose to play again, and its not tracking checkpoints or save points properly, its forcing you to go back to the start of the mission.

But in co-op, with an instant revive spell that only takes 3 key presses (2 elements and spacebar) having everyone die is uncommon.

Magicka is brilliant! I can't remember the last time when a game charmed me so instantly. The spell system rewards skill and quick thinking, although there are a few combos that outshine the others. Some bugs too, but they're getting repaired at a quick pace. Hopefully they'll implement proper PvP one day...

Steam version is vastly superior as the non-Steam copies have no game lobbies, and only direct ip.

I don't think non-Steam versions are available- yet. When they are, I'll likely get a copy. This looks like a great game.

The Gamersgate listing is for the steam version.

    Weird.

I'd volunteer, but lag kills the game hard, and being a long way away...

I got it, I found it to be pretty decent. I am not the biggest fan of the controls though. Gimped moving with KB&B or Gimped Spellcasting with Controller.
