It was way too much explanation for a round one vote. I think there's a better than random chance he was coming up with a reason to spare one of the other two. It smelled flinchy.

Because it is a bit obvious a move. The votes on any given candidate are low, and it looks more natural to start a new bandwagon than to reflexively pile onto the opposing candidate.

Perhaps you're right that I'm not articulating what I feel correctly, but when reading that post I got flashbacks to other times when people gave logical reasons to not waste the round one lynch, and use it to get rid of a lurker since we're going to have to do so eventually anyway. It's very persuasive, people listen to that.

And yet, it is also something you can state in order to alter the voting tally on round one quite easily. Yaropolk is either trying to steer the lynch onto someone he feels won't participate anyway, or off of someone we should be lynching. One of the two is true. My gut feels almost 50/50 on it. I can't help but express that, before we wander too far from this point.

There's no such thing as trying to hard for Day 1, it's such a bad argument that I've seen used by scums before. It's much better to be trying than giving fluff reasons, or a random vote. Town work starts on Day 1, not later.

Also, Yaro was wanting to lynch a less active player, for strategic reasons, and I agree with him: Given no alternative, it's preferable to lynch a lurker on day 1 (if only to teach them that lurking is unacceptable!)
