So today I got my acceptance notification to University of Maryland (my dream school, btw).
I also got into Rutgers and GA State, but I got those acceptance letters long ago.

I can now breath. No more college essays, no more worrying about whether Ill get in...

Senioritis, here I come!

Oh yeah don't slack off. At Uni your work is going to be harder than ever, so better to get a running start now than to just laze around.

work with no expectation of tomorrow, and it will be slapping you in the face that much sooner.

Meh, I'm not going career crazy. I didn't make much use of my time at Uni so I'm going to chill a bit now...

I'm with you Hooah. I'm to be employed the first day after being a student, and that as good as I could hope for.

Well I figure that the ideal location near DC makes up for that.

Also I heard that crime has been brought down but who knows.

They are not that bad. I do recommend early action, though...the wait is killing me!

Good job! What are you planning on studying? Also, my first semester of college was easier than my second semester of senior year high school (thank you especially Intro Psychology. ), so try to ease yourself in your first semester because it will probably get hard real soon.

Congrats Hooah! Been there, done that, so yeah, just don't completely screw up this last semester and then it's a taste so sweet you can't imagine.

...and if you ever do find yourself planning a mini-excursion to DC, let me know.

Yeah, learn to love the metro. It's gotten much more expensive in recent years, so you're gonna want to get a smartpass as soon as you can if you plan on staying at UMD for more than a semester; it costs five bucks (ten, actually, but if I remember correctly you get five dollars credit to start out with) but it saves areound 50 cents per ride (is that right? I've taken to using the bus now, so I don't remember exactly, but it's something like 40-50 cents per trip.)

As for bars, once you can go to them, that is, you might actually be better off sticking to MD. They're expensive as all holy hell near pretty much every metro stop, so unless someone finds a nice place where you can get two dollar beers or less don't even bother.

I would recommend some places to eat, but none of them even approach being kosher, if you're still following that strictly. If not, go to Ben's Chili Bowl first thing, then Henry's Cafe down the street. Henry's has some damn good fried chicken and decent sides.

Good luck. I've heard UMD is a really fun campus to be on. It's really big, so I imagine they're plenty to do social-wise.

Oh, and if any of the bus lines go into College Park, use them instead of the metro. Cheaper, and you get a nice view. I don't think any of the lines extend beyond the district border, but I could be totally wrong about that, so take advantage of it if you can.

Also because my planned major is Criminal Justice with a minor in Terrorism studies (as you could probably tell, I want to be an FBI agent) going to GT, an engineering school, is not a smart thing to do.

Actually, it is.

You'll have fun at Maryland, just stay away from the student riots. The College Park police have been more, shall we say, enthusiastic, lately. And you'll be closer to Quantico, so I guess it's a good decision.

Im actually planning to join the Auxiliary Police Force, so I dont think the police will be a problem for me.

Plus I plan on having a quiet time at Uni. After all, all my efforts must go into the FBI so I can get in.
