    Default Dumb Question

    Hello,

I was wondering if I purchased the Rome Total War Gold Pack, would I still be able to install EB? Or would that mess up the files?

    worked for me,

ye can even run EB via Barbarian invasion which has certain advantages, when you're interested, just look in the submod subforum.

Unless you really want shield wall, Alexander is a lot better to use for EB.

Yes - as long as you like the AI retraining its depleted units the same way you can.

I don't like that because the AI replaces its losses too quickly, so individual battles become less decisive. And it makes the campaign harder.

guys, he's not looking for "the ideal version" or for the shieldwall feature itself.
he asked if he can run EB(normal eb no shieldwall/immortals extras) with the gold version of RTW(thus not BI but vanilla) which he already bought.

How is it much better than BI? I'm using BI and I like it a lot more than normal EB, so if Alexander is really much better, I would really like to know how.

I can only speak for myself, but the main reason why I switched from BI to Alex is that the Qarthadastim was always, always, always going gung-ho after Tolosa as soon as I captured it, and especially so after I built mines there (or if they were there when I captured it). Nothing mattered, not even if we were allies and both fighting the Romani; they'd literally walk from Sicily through Italy, ignoring - and being ignored by - all Roman towns and armies that lay in the way just to get to it. As if that wasn't enough, they kept on sending fullstack after fullstack, one per turn, with a lot of those african elite phalangites, through their navy. This in every single campaign I started as the Arverni.

When I finally tried Alex, it loaded faster and that problem wasn't there; together with a more active eleutheroi, that clinched it for me.

I'm actually applying EB too both. How will EB change BI?

I thought the gold version wasn't vanilla and I still had to patch to 1.5. As my intentions are to install the EB for BI mod.

The Gold version is already at 1.5 so you don't need to download any patches.

Found that out, but I still can't get EB to install for some odd reason.
