Default My level 4 governor always acquires the intelooper trait

Hello friends, this is my first post to the forums. I need your help in order to avoid the nasty interlooper trait that all my recruited governors acquire at the beginning of the following turn.
I am currently playning a campaign with Makedonia I decided to build a level 4 goverment following a provisionary military goverment. But my governor always acquires the interlooper trait. What can I do??

Thanks you and I forgot to tell you that my EB version is 1.1. I do not want to change it because i'm doing fine until now

    welcome to the forums!

did the fella spawn in that settlement or is he one of your family members(thus did you move him there? because the game distinguishes between Family members(also counting adopted and related by marriage ones) and Recruited Generals - Client rulers.
the latter represent nobles from other tribes/cities that are allied with you(or to be frank: puppets) they may not enter settlements which are really part of your empire(gov level 1-3) whereas your Family members may not enter level 4 provinces as that would let the inhabitants question their independence.
so when you build a level 4 government be sure that the governor is a client ruler rather than a family member thus get those FMs out of the settlement the turn you finish the government ;) and let the new guy take the rudder.

if the general of interest is a client ruler(and has that trait) tho that indeed would be a bug. I know that there were some bugs with the client rulers in 1.1 as the script spawned them in the settlement unlike 1.2 where they may be recruited when finishing the government building.

heck in eb 1.1 I did not know of governments and client rulers and had a lesser celtic king accompany my faction leader on his rampage through Gaul :D

Check the EB-FAQ for a first info about EB.

As Ca Putt already stated, 1.1 client ruler's script was not optimal, so it is replaced by the one used in 1.2, maybe you upgrade after you finished your current campaign.

Did you destroy all left-over older government buildings? You are sure that the new spawned governor is the only character inside the settlement?
Are any files of your installation changed?

I´d rather modify the "interlooper" trait for gouverneurs only, so that the pure entering/staying for a while in a settlement under a client ruler won´t be taken as affront, since the particular FM might be simply a guest/resting etc. Same for "impostor". There are situations in game when one better keeps the generals in a settlement, like greedy enemy diplomats, a superior army outside of the gates, or simply to rest a general who is suffering from a frosty winter.

That would make no difference. If the FM is not the governor, his Interloper trait does not take effect on the settlement. If the client ruler is not the governor, his Impostor trait does not take effect on the settlement.

But i do care about the traits of my FMs, roleplaying the whole game accordingly. Now, give a FM a "Cook" ancillary, for example, and he will become a bigger change to be watchfull, rather then beeing careless; this is not game decesive, but due to selfperpertuating traits ( which i sometimes really hate - why must every general who is a "social drinker" inevitably become a "drunkard", unless you put him in a town with "jupiter" temple line, trying to reverse his doom?! ) my best field generals often become completly "careless of security", even if they can gain a "sword bearer" ancillary or a "heroic saviour" afterwards. Some people do not care, or take this things "easy", i guess, but i prefer to identify myself, while roleplaying, with those characters, and enjoy the great atmosphere created by EB team through establishing of personalities of the family members.

Btw: if some one knows what event/building etc. is triggering "welcoming to the foreigners" trait, i would really apreciate the sharing of it - it drives me sometimes crazy, since it is almost impossible to get rid of enemy spies, unless you put 10 of your own, plus assasins, in the settlement with a general "fascinated by outsiders".... ( my last Pontus campaign ended up with 90% FMs gaining that trait, and those pesky AI used to terrorize my towns to death^^ ).

I think I finally found a workaround. Simply, create a type IV level goverment with a family member already inside the town. At the following turn, the new governor spawns and the family member gets the inteloper trait. Check if the new (spawned) governor has the "client ruler" trait. Wait for another turn and the new (spawned) governor will acquire the "interloper" trait along the "client ruler" one. At this moment move both family member and the new governor out of town. Wait for the following turn and the new governor will loose the inteloper trait and could re-enter town.
