So, if the Police is certain, 100% positive, that you're guilty, there's no need for a trial?

We are to trust the competence of the police officer, and accept his or her judgement when it comes to seperating the guilty from the innocent?

If the former was the case, the latter would be unnecessary. But it never is.

On a tangental matter, it is why I am pro the death penalty in principle, but in practice I am far more cautious as rarely is there incontrovertible proof.

.......And that, is precisely why I am against Gitmo and the thought processes that lead to it.

We can never allow the police to pass judgement, no matter how certain they may be. An independent judiciary is fundamental to any civilized society,

Of course, isn't that how legal system works in all democratic countries and... oh, never mind...
