    Default Made-up names?

Someone please explain the logic to me behind the purpose of giving your kids made up names like Jamell or Teeneffa? Really?

All names are made up at one point in time. Creating new ones broadens the field of names to choose from.

Or ELITEofKingWarman8... The only way to get that spelled correctly is by copy/pasting the whole thing

Sure, and in all honesty, your current username is ok, but some of your previous names resembled [qé4)= s/*]Warman84654543254---quiEhlAZCYTLqMùe[8] ...

    Dear Michael,

I agree with you. I am much fonder of traditional names. These made-up names, or alternate spellings of more traditional names, to me project 'Lower class, but with the ambition to become blingbling lower class'.

Michael's the name of a fairy in a fairy tale book. Be careful over what you condemn, bro.

What, you don't want your daughter to be named Shanaynay?

Because in a world where everyone is named Bob, there's not a lot of individuality.

they want their babies to feel special.

my father and i have decided that when they add a de in front of it (desean demichael) they are using french de which means of (among other things). so of michael or of sean.

    heres a funny anecdote.

when my father retired from the navy his best buddy did as well. Mr. X went on to become a teacher before he stopped that nonsense and worked for th government like my father. Anyways at a sub job he was calling roll. everything was going fine until he saw he had a student with the name shithad (approximate spelling something had to be alittle different). (don't edit out) when he obviously didn't say the name out loud he asked the student to pronounce it to which the student responded huffily, "shi-theed"

    Someone's momma hated them.

That was actually a refreshing anecdote; have to feel sorry for the poor kid, though... s/he will be getting that changed when they're older, probably.

I wanted to name one of my daughters !Xho k! (! represents a clicking noise as used by the Kalahari Bush people).

However, that proposal did not go over so well, so that world has one more Alison.

Well yes and no... most traditional names have some kind of meaning in some ancient language or other... it wasn't really a case of someone sitting there stringing two or three syllables together and coming up with some meaningless tosh... which is often the case nowadays... but... who are we to judge?
