Thread: Casse video issue with battle map

Default Casse video issue with battle map

    Hi all.

I'm running EB 1.2 on Alex, using Jirisys' Europa Barbarorum Mega Mod Pack for EB 1.2 v1.03. I've play Koinon Hellenon a lot, with the usual (and at times excessive :() CTD's, which I've just put up with.

For a change, I decided to start a Casse campaign. And discovered a video bug. An extract of my log file followed by screen shots of the campaign map and battle map:

Barae & Sentata w/2Botroas join north Gaeroas and attack Calydrae army
Barae w/394 men versus Praesutagos w/501 men

Whether I attack this location day or night the battle map has video problems
    Symptoms:

    1. During the general's speach, instead of zooming in on the army units, at the very high

view after a short pause, the camera pulls back and then moves forward a bit.

    2. At this time I can move the camera around the map. Only 1 FM is with the 3 other units.

The other FM is stuck at the south edge of the map, and only some of the models are

    visible.

    3. When I click "START DEPLOYMENT" the map is lost and the screen has a solid colour

(usually blue), with an alternate hue (usually white) in the upper left corner, sometimes

the lower right. The overview map and the unit buttons are in the usual locations, upper

right corner and lower left corner respectively.

    4. When I move the mouse, I get persistent flickering mouse ghosts.

    5. The overview map shows the one FM as a star with the other units at the point of the

attacking deployment area, with another star showing at the rear centre edge of the

deployment area (matching where I saw the few models prior to clicking "START DEPLOYMENT".
From selecting one unit, it appears the misplaced unit is Barae.

    6. The ESC menu is available. When I reset the video modes, the main background colour

changes (usually to white) and the background music resumes. Moving the mouse to the upper

edge brings down the drop-down buttons.

    7. Any action that would remove something from the screen (clicking "Return to Game" on the

ESC menu, move the mouse down from the drop-down buttons) leaves ghosts, some flickering.

    8. Clicking "START BATTLE" puts the enemy on the overview map, but no unit apparently

    moves.

    9. I can get out with "Exit Battle" on the ESC menu.

    10. This happens if I attack the Calydrae army day or night at that location. It also

persists over saving the game. If I find and attack another Eleutheroi army, the battle

    map works, day or night.

Graphic drivers up-to date? Any sub-mods installed that affect terrain?
    All fixes for 1.2 applied?
Try to run EB in windowed mode (either by adding -ne to your shortcut's target line or by changing it in the Trivial Script options menu)

After installing Jirisys' Europa Barbarorum Mega Mod Pack, I couldn't get the Trivial Script to work, so I'm using a direct shortcut:

    "C:\Prog\Europa Barbarorum\RomeTW-ALX.exe" -mod:eb -nm -show_err -ne -noalexander

I do use -ne, but the game runs in 1600x900x32 full-screen. From testing, it seems to be related to where the Eleutheroi stack is located. I get CTDs but I don't get this error attacking or being attacked elsewhere; the battle screen battle runs fine.

I've played on by avoiding them. I'll just have to wait for that damn stack to move before I deal with them.

If this mod-pack affects terrain it might be the problem. Is the stack located on any bonus resource or similar? maybe you want to move it away via console.
You build is not compatible with mine, otherwise I could have checked your game...

The Eleutheroi (Calydrae) FM is Praesutagos. I can't get 'character reset "NAME"' to work and I don't think I will be able to determine the internal name. When I have sufficient troops, I will defeat them in an automatically calculated battle.

In Jirsys' EB Megamod, it appears the only component that changes the map is Centurio Nixalsverdrus' Getting Rid of the Giant Trees Mod, but I don't think that changes the map in Britain. Note in the screen capture that army is almost right on top of a feature which I can't identify. It may be a problem with the EB 1.2 map itself.

You may want to use 'auto_win attacker' to get rid of him earlier if he is a danger to your game.

I'll check the coordinates in our internal build if there are problems in this area, thanks for the report!

I defeated him with an autocomplete battle. After he was gone, the feature he's on top of is named "Casse village". When I slide the cursor on the campaign map up to him, 'show_cursorstat' reports "pos 55,191, region id 22 (Corieltauvae)".

Found another one. Again, first sign was the lack of zoom-in on my army during the general's speech.

Just sliding the cursor up to the army gives 'show_cursorstat' of pos 40,205, region id 14 (Cruddain). Campaign map screenshot attached.
