    Default Asking for a waitress

So I been going to this same place for the past 4 Wednesdays now. They got really good food, especially their pizza and fries (and beer to though I'm to young to drink, 19 I am). I had a good (and cute) waitress the first time I went there (they are mostly staffed with vert attractive waitresses) and had a different waitress the 2nd time I was there (2 weeks ago) and had her again last Wednesday and not only she was cute but did her job quite well. This Wednesday (yesterday) I had another cute waitress. But uh, I wasn't to impress though. I asked for fries at the beginning, I ended up never getting them (though I wasn't bill for them, but even still), she didn't check up on me much for the first half of my stay and when my pizza was put out to be brought back to me, the waitress I had last week and the week before brought the pizza out to me (did half the work right there) and ask me if I wanted anything else to put on it before she went to her own tables. Sure, the waitress I had yesterday did end up checking up on me 2,maybe 3 times afterwards, but when she brought me my bill (before I looked), I ask her about my fries "Hey, you know I didn't get any fries?". She ask me to repeat myself and then did a cute little laugh. Talk about a facepalm. I left a $4 tip only because she was cute. I didn't get charged for the fries and the pizza was again good, but, disappointed. Then when I went outside I said "Could be worse......." and it rain just as I said that!!

So If I go back next Tuesday ( can't afford to miss or be late for any more Wednesday classes since I walk 45 minutes there and 45 back) I got a question for you guys.

Would it be creepy to ask for the good waitress I had for the 2nd and 3rd visits? I mean, I do like having someone who knows me,always cool and besides, at least I know I be taken care of for sure.

So, should I ask or should I just walk in, be seated and pray to god I have this good waitress again and not the other?

Fake an Arab accent and promise many camels for her services.

Since when did staff come to check up on people several times during a meal?

And why are you having to have your pizza returned all the time?

Dude I don't think you should have given the bad waitress a good tip just because she was cute, some people think they can get away with whatever they want just because they're attractive, don't encourage them. Maybe I'm judging her a bit unfairly but that's how I would've seen it if I was in your shoes.

To answer your question sure I think it would be ok; you know your reasons for doing it aren't creepy and if you're still worried about what the hostess thinks you can always tell her that the waitress you ask for is better than ones you've had in the past.

I agree with edyz, I am sorely disappointed in this thread. You shouldn't of tipped her so well either since that's the only way you can convey to her that you were dissatisfied with her service. Besides actually telling her she's terrible at her job.

To answer your question though. No, I don't think it's creepy to ask for a waitress you thought did her job better than the other one.

I know, I got a weak spot for teddy bears, cashews and milk, money and women.

I be heading then again Tuesday or Wednesday, so we shall see what we shall see.

    OK, one other option...

Most restaurants work by assigning their waitresses to sections. So asking for a different waitress in such a place is asking for problems - because 1. you will probably get less service since your waitress is focusing on her section and 2. you are cutting into the 2nd waitresses tips.

Sometimes a waitress works the same area all the time. You could come to prefer a particular table, which you then begin to request...which just happens to be in her section...(wink wink nudge nudge). Of course, that would be when she gets reassigned, right?

If the place is one that seats you, you could always ask the host if X is working tonight and if you could be in her section. She might think you are putting the moves on her, and creep her out at first (depends on how smooth you are and how you handle it)... but if you tip well, I am sure she will not complain about having a regular.

Perhaps there is someone here who has actually worked in a restaurant/bar (I have not), who could let you in on some tips in this regard.

I often think waitresses much like other females you find in business establishments, banks, retail stores, etc. are there to work not fraternize. I also always assume they are spoken for unless otherwise noted. I personally would feel awkward asking them out or something. But I am sure many have had successes this way.

That's what I thought too. Which is easy. Tip 20 bucks, write "hey, can I get your number?" on the bill (make sure she gets it, not the fat old man behind the counter <- THIS IS CRITICAL) and smile.
